Juts read the article in RT (in Smiths don't buy it) re Strictly Come Dancing and it looks dire - no Brucie and a guest list of no-one I have ever heard of except that coarse fruit and veg man and Andy Murray's sour faced mother.
I suppose I will get sucked in but I think its a record and wiz through job now - I like watching the professional dancers but can't stand the rubbish that Tess talks.
Will you be watching?

I'm glad somebody else is finding it boring, Jane10. I was glued until last week but it seems to have gone flat now.

Jane10 Sun 14-Dec-14 17:05:18

Well I thought I'd try to watch again despite being so furious at Lens petulant outburst and unfair marking last week but I found l just didn't care enough about any of them. Caroline's the best left but l expect it'll be one of those ones who whine about the journey they've been on and cry. Frankie's next best. Good luck to the girls but I'll not be watching. DH couldn't believe I gave up on it last night but it was just boring.

When Tess gets really excited she sounds like Walter Gabriel, me old pal, me old beauty or Yvette from Allo Allo - Ooooooooh Rrrrrrennnnneeeeeee!

I love strictly, can't miss it. I would dearly love to have a day in the ladies wardrobe even though I'm a tomboy at heart most of the dresses are fabulous. I have enjoyed every year it's one of my favourite shows. I used to ignore Bruce When he presented it so I manage to ignore Tess to.

DS and DiL got tickets for last week. Had a fantastic time. I rather gather all the cheering and clapping is supposed to be part of it. Gives atmosphere. They were in the first 50 in the queue and were about five rows from the front. The front rows were all contestants friends etc, not the public.

(I shouldn't comment as last week was only the second time I've seen it!)

NanKate Sun 14-Dec-14 16:37:09

You are right PapaO Tess could not appear one week but they could have recorded what she said the previous week and it would fit in nicely. The don't make presenters like they used to grin

papaoscar Sun 14-Dec-14 16:31:43

When they pan to the audience there seem to be more celebrities there than taking part in the competition. Are they responsible for the rowdy conduct? And what can be done to persuade poor old Tess to retire gracefully and join Brucie on the retired bench. Nice lady but she's beginning to repeat herself more than a large helping of Brussels'!

I didn't know most of them at the beginning. I have found it interesting to see how they have progressed. Caroline and Simon are two that I wouldn't have thought had a chance when they started.

annodomini Sun 14-Dec-14 16:22:47

I know a lot more about the 'celebs' now than I did at the start of the series and have grown quite fond of some of them.

Charleygirl Sun 14-Dec-14 15:59:39

I know more about the professional dancers than I do about the "celebrities".

rosequartz Sun 14-Dec-14 15:52:02

Not sure that the floor managers know what 'quiet please' means tchgrin

What happened to British reserve?

rosequartz Sun 14-Dec-14 15:50:55

So I don't really care who wins! smile

Charleygirl Sun 14-Dec-14 15:48:12

rosequartz I totally agree, I have never heard of any of them. When all were around at the start of the series, I had heard of 50% or less. I think that they are running out of Z list celebrities.

Teetime Sun 14-Dec-14 15:42:53

I agree felice I cant stand the moronic handclapping over what is a very good orchestra.

felice Sun 14-Dec-14 13:14:09

Exactly, so whats wrong, with 'quiet please' ??????????

rosequartz Sun 14-Dec-14 12:25:00

felice I was always under the impression that floor managers held up huge boards to the audience saying 'scream now', 'clap and stamp feet now' and, in the case of Craig, 'boo now' tchgrin

rosequartz Sun 14-Dec-14 12:23:43

Am I the only one who does not know who any of the contestants are? Tuned in on Saturday for the first time for a few weeks tchconfused

felice Sun 14-Dec-14 11:48:05

Sorry for the double comment, pressed send early, I saw the matter brought up on Points of View last year and the floor manager said they could not stop it as it was a live audience.
Sorry the floor managers job is to control the show on the floor, which is where the audience is, surely they could tell the audience to be quiet.

felice Sun 14-Dec-14 11:43:39

I hate it when the audience scream and clap when the 'pro dancers' do quite basic dance steps during the sunday evening guest acts, I wish they would just shut up, i think it is quite insulting to the guests.

PRINTMISS Sun 14-Dec-14 11:10:09

Can I have a rant here? O.K. so I know I am getting old, and perhaps a bit crotchety, but do they have to SCREAM at the beginning of Strictly, and then almost continuously? I sometimes wonder if it is the audience or 'canned' Whatever it is, it really spoils the programme for me, which I quite enjoy otherwise.

NanKate Sun 14-Dec-14 10:41:19

Why can't my hair ever look lovely like Frankie's. Her hairdresser should get an award. I would like her to win.

kittylester Sun 14-Dec-14 08:45:14

I'm hoping that Mark Wright is shysals son as I think he might win! grin
