Strictly - shall you?

Juts read the article in RT (in Smiths don't buy it) re Strictly Come Dancing and it looks dire - no Brucie and a guest list of no-one I have ever heard of except that coarse fruit and veg man and Andy Murray's sour faced mother.
I suppose I will get sucked in but I think its a record and wiz through job now - I like watching the professional dancers but can't stand the rubbish that Tess talks.
Will you be watching?

For those of you who have made comments about Steve Backshall I should like to come to his defence.

He is a friend of my son's and I have met him a few times. He has always been charming and polite and to be honest I do not think he fits well into this glitzy glamour world. I think he was persuaded that it would be good for his career to have this amount of exposure, but I suspect he will see it as an error of judgement.

It is true that he is on pain killers as his accident some years ago was pretty bad and he spent months exercising to rehabilitate himself, hence his great physique. I suspect he will only last a week or so more.

I can't wait to see how Anton is going to get Judy flying in Blackpool.smile

annodomini Mon 10-Nov-14 12:20:39

I have enjoyed Steve's macho dances which I think have been choreographed skilfully to exploit his 'assets'. If what the Mail has reported is true, it would be doing him a favour to eliminate him.

In the fullness of time Anno I hope to find out the truth behind the rumours. I think he will be relieved to be working back in the animal world and away from sequins and backbiting.

Yes time for Alison to go hopefully followed by Judy next week. I'm not really enjoying this series the presentation I chaotic and the judges are losing all credibility- what is Darcy doing to herself she seems to be losing her dignity with all that fannying about and Yes she has fabulous legs but we could see her nether bits this week in the Lens Lense section. Worst of all is the moronic handclapping which drowns out the music and carries on after the music has stopped. I appreciate the floor manager hold s up a board that says CLAP but I wish he wouldn't- the orchestra is the best part of the show so lets hear it.

Wish I had muscles like Steve. Good luck to him. Its a shame anybody has to go, especially in the later stages. Perhaps a league table approach for the final 10 contestants would be kinder - oh, and what about Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman joining the judging panel next time, together with a couple more ladies?

pompa Mon 10-Nov-14 18:13:31

When I had muscles like Steve and a six pack, I used to have to fight the women off, so difficult to decide which too choose. You can have too much of a good thing, two a week was plenty.

Yawn, aww, that was a scary dream.

Deedaa Mon 10-Nov-14 21:37:10

What a shame we never met pompa but I was just so busy beating men off with a stick grin

PRINTMISS Tue 11-Nov-14 08:03:29

I wonder if any of you share my preference for Zoe Ball instead of Claudia? I think she does a really good job co-presenting doesn't shout, and actually listens when talking to the winners. Doesn't talk into my face either, which I found really annoying.

ginny Tue 11-Nov-14 08:55:40

I think Zoe is great but I'd like to see her and Claudia presenting together.

Teetime Tue 11-Nov-14 08:59:28

I agree printmiss and ginny Zoe is much better on her feet, ad libs well and links things together without obviously reading the autocue. My vote would be Zoe as lead presenter and Claudia 'up the stairs'. I might consider Karen Harding or one of the regular dancers in the 'It takes two' slot - not that I watch that now.

Jane10 Tue 11-Nov-14 09:07:32

I cant stand Zoe!! She`s so gushy and silly without being in any way amusing! Tess is OK as the pleasant straight one and Claudia as the cheerfully daft one. Poor thing though, she might struggle a bit to appear cheerful given whats happened to her wee girl. I hope she`s making a good recovery but it`ll be so sore.

Charleygirl Tue 11-Nov-14 09:18:15

The judges should either be seated or walk in as they used to instead of fannying/a****g around at present. Craig will dislocate his recent hip replacement if he is not careful.

I agree, it is much better having Zoe presenting for a few weeks. Claudia seems to shout at us and the dancers.

Darcey has a fabulous figure but the micra dress if one could call it that, was too skimpy and short. It was more like a long sparkly top.

I was sorry to see Alison go because she was great fun. Judy is well past her sell by date and unless the public vote in large numbers this week, she should be the next to leave.

annodomini Tue 11-Nov-14 09:46:06

Zoe also has the great advantage of having taken part in the contest herself - I remember her great samba! She will understand what the contestants are going through. I still like Tess but would prefer to do without the giggly Claudia.

POGS Tue 11-Nov-14 15:08:18

Sorry to see Alison leave I knew her personality would see her through and she certainly didn't let herself down. Great job Alison you did yourself proud.

It would be untrue however to say that Alison would carry on much further but ye gods, how on earth is Judy never in a dance off.

I think Len summed it up when he said " The British like an underdog but I think more we like justice and there's no justice in you being here".

pompa Tue 11-Nov-14 15:39:02

I just hope that Judy is in the dance off this week otherwise one of the potential winners will be going out and that would be very unjust. I liked allison, but I don't think she was good enough to win.

POGS Sun 16-Nov-14 19:00:10

Just caught up with yesterdays show.

I'm sticking with Pixie but blooming heck were they not all at their best, even Judy improved but she should go.

I thought Mark, Steve and Caroline were excellent but Pixie has the edge to me as she has so much technicality in her routine she deserves to win.

Shame somebody has to go.

pompa Sun 16-Nov-14 19:54:03

I am please that Judy has gone, it would not be fair to the others if she stayed any longer. However what a difference in her last dance, the nerves had gone and she danced better than she has all the weeks, it was a pleasure to watch.

merlotgran Sun 16-Nov-14 19:56:46

I agree pompa. I'm really pleased she got as far as she did and nice for her to go on a good note.

annodomini Sun 16-Nov-14 20:00:55

It was quite an emotional departure wasn't it? Now the dancers who should be there are still there - though it's a shame that Thom didn't make it further into the competition. What a good show it was last night. The most spectacular dance for me was Simon's Argentine Tango.

pompa Sun 16-Nov-14 20:06:53

I was almost hoping that Simon's would join Judy in the dance off, just so I could see their Argentine Tango again.

POGS Sun 16-Nov-14 20:34:23

Whoops. I meant Simon not Steve.

numberplease Sun 16-Nov-14 21:23:49

I agree that it was only fair for Judy to go this week, but what a shame that she chose this week to start to shine, and what a lovely man Anton is! I really enjoyed this week`s shows, and loved seeing Shirley Bassey again.

gma Sun 16-Nov-14 21:58:37

At last Judy has gone now! She should have gone a couple of weeks ago!!but I must admit that she danced much better this week, maybe she knew that she would have to go and she relaxed and my did it show!! Feel sorry for Anton though, always the bridesmaid and never the bride! Perhaps the powers that be will give him a real potential winner next year!

Tegan Sun 16-Nov-14 22:25:45

Judy should have gone before Alison [whose personality could light up a small town imo]. Still, it won't have done her career any harm [Alison's, that is].

gillybob Sun 16-Nov-14 22:50:05

Totally agree Tegan Judy should have gone in week 1/2. Perhaps she was contracted to stay until Blackpool. Alison was by far the better dancer. Just glad she has finally gone tonight. In my opinion (it doesn't count for much but) there are at least 4 potential winners. smile

Really enjoying it this year.
