I've just watched it, amazed that I can remember all the words to the songs! The Motown singers were such quality, loved them all (except the Jacksons). Happy days smile

Loved it! Motown coincided with my teenage years and I still remember the words to all the songs. Just before it was on, I watched A Hard Day's Night and really enjoyed those early Beatles songs.

kittylester Mon 07-Jul-14 09:42:26

Motown is the sound track to my late teenage and early twenties. Love it. We saw Stevie Wonder, when he was Little grin, Four Tops, Temptations, Diana Ross - happy days. My favourites, at least today, were the Temptations.

ninathenana Mon 07-Jul-14 11:05:49

I have been a major fan of Diana Ross and of course Supremes since my teens. Have seen her live 3 times but was very disappointed last time. I'm sorry to say I think she's had her day.
Love all the other artist too.

Fabulous programme I am going to watch it again on Wednesday when my neighbour is out but at full volume this time,I won tickets to see The Stylistic's in Concert at The Empire in Liverpool yrs ago and can still remember that night singing and dancing in the isles with my sister.

" Heard it on the Grapevine....." smile

TriciaF Tue 08-Jul-14 10:14:46

petra Tue 08-Jul-14 17:24:54

Marvin Gaye could sing the shopping list and it would still sound wonderful.

whenim64 Tue 08-Jul-14 17:48:23

I hoped Junior Walker and the All Stars would get a mention. 'Shotgun' and 'Road Runner' were fantastic to dance to in the 60s. A great band!

NanKate Wed 09-Jul-14 10:34:30

The moment you said 'Junior Walker' When a song started playing in my head. Fabulous music.

If you ever get a chance to see someone called Earl Thomas who comes over to the UK annually, he is as good as the 60s musicians - he does Soul, Blues etc. and what a nice man he is to speak to.

whenim64 Wed 09-Jul-14 11:30:23

Ooh, NanKate I know about Earl Thomas! He was due to appear in San Diego and advertised as 'the black Mick Jagger' when I was there, but we were leaving before he arrived. Would love to see him.

I didn't manage to watch it and managed to forget it was on. I have dozens of Motown CDs which I listen to often.

Marvin Gaye - fabulous voice, he's one of my favourites.

When I was 15, I was dating a local DJ and had just finished with him. When my friend and I walked into the disco, he played 'Same Old Song' - I did feel a bit guilty but danced to it anyway grin
