Is anyone else in training for Wimbledon? I watched 2 whole hours of Roland Garros yesterday! grin

whitewave Mon 07-Jul-14 11:04:24

Apart from tennis at its best I was also impressed with the way both players behaved. So different from Mr Murray whose tantrums and swearing is beyond the limit - dreadful man

Mishap Sun 06-Jul-14 21:13:12

But I will get so much more done!!!

whenim64 Sun 06-Jul-14 20:06:43

That was an outstanding match - they pushed each other to their limits and either one could have taken the title. I'm going to miss it being on every day.

Fab match - I wanted Rafa but he was far away in Majorca with his feet up, or practising for his next match. smile

Mishap Sun 06-Jul-14 19:09:24

I wanted Federer to win - but what a splendid match!

Tegan Sun 06-Jul-14 18:47:05

Same here; sometimes you have to see someone lose to realise how good they are and Federer was amazing, but I wanted Novac to win. It was a brilliant game; almost like watching a demonstration of how to play great tennis. Shame there had to be a loser, really.

Well I don`t know about the rest of yu GNetters but I`m drained and exhausted but it was a wonderful final. congratulations to Novak Djojovic

Can someone explain why during doubles matches the players keep touching hands between points, it's getting on my wick - hope that isn't a rude expression grin

Tegan it too takes me ages to unpack, sort the washing, have a cuppa or two, read the post, check my emails, walk round the garden and look forward to sleeping in my own bed.

annodomini Thu 03-Jul-14 14:08:59

Semi-final on at the moment isn't very exciting. At least they are differently dressed and have different coloured hair!

Tegan Thu 03-Jul-14 13:55:46

....scream in an aggressive way you mean! Why does it take me an hour to pack for a holiday and two weeks to unpack [sometimes more...]?

NanKate Thu 03-Jul-14 13:03:00

Housework ! What's that ?

If I hear the word 'aggressive' again I will scream.

Tegan Thu 03-Jul-14 11:49:23

..yes, I will miss it. I'll have to do some housework for a start blush....

Tegan Thu 03-Jul-14 11:48:53

I don't understand how a tennis player that has only played womens tennis can help a male tennis player in any way confused. Just as with other sports [football managers who were players/racehorse trainers who were jockeys] being good at a sport doesn't mean that you're good at teaching/training others to be good. It was a very strange choice for Murray, I felt. But it was interesting to hear how few Wimbledon Champions have retained their crown the following year..I was surprised to hear that. I do find Raonic uncharismatic though sad. Can I be honest and say that I've never liked Serena; I love Venus; always have, always will..she was like a breath of fresh air when she appeared on the scene but I can't warm to Serena.

NanKate Thu 03-Jul-14 06:23:49

Yes Murray was not himself. In a way I found it quite refreshing that he wasn't doing his usual negative self talk and mouthing words to his team, which really annoys. There is talk that his new trainer Ameli M might be leaving his employ, she's only been with him about a month. hmm

Tegan you may feel a bit 'burnt out' now but next week when it is all over you, perhaps like me, will be missing it badly.

Tegan Wed 02-Jul-14 22:12:05

I think I'm a bit burned out what with football and tennis. Interesting that the guy who beat Murray said that he'd learned a lot from Sharapova's [his girlfriend's] work ethic..having now become her fan after yesterdays match [can't believe I'm saying that confused] I can understand what he means. The S.O. only caught part of the match but said he felt straight away that Murray didn't seem to be himself. Is it just me, but there seem to be more matches this year? I know there aren't confused. The women's tennis is incredible. It's so exhausting though, isn't it!

Lona Wed 02-Jul-14 21:24:52

I'm exhausted after all these nail biting matches, think I might have a day off tomorrow! my bum's numb
New gate needs painting anyway.

merlotgran Wed 02-Jul-14 19:46:42

Great match but I'm getting fed up with the racket from Kyrgios's supporters. Dan Maskell must be spinning in his grave.

Tegan Wed 02-Jul-14 19:43:08

Raonic looks like someone from Boys Own Comic [or Ripping Yarns] and seems a bit bland [sorry Raonic blush].

whenim64 Wed 02-Jul-14 18:27:59

Good to see Federer has made it to the semi-finals. I was beginning to think there would be no familiar faces on court before long.

sparkygran Wed 02-Jul-14 18:06:55

So sorry Andy`s out he didn`t play well but on the positive side he has been improving at a great rate since his surgery and he wasn`t playing well really until the French Open where he got to the semis and Wimbeldon the quarters roll on the US Open always one I think he excels at.

But didn`t Dimitrov play well?

Currently watching Kyrgios and Raonic match shaping up to be a goodie

Tegan Wed 02-Jul-14 17:00:33

One of my teeth has jist disintegrated now and can't get to the dentist till Friday as on school run duties tomorrow. What else can go wrong?

annodomini Wed 02-Jul-14 16:39:13

Serena is reported as having a viral infection which could mean anything.

Tegan Wed 02-Jul-14 16:35:56

The mention of chocolate made me decide to make a smoothie with lots of cocoa in it; for the first time ever I hadn't put the seal in the blender properly and I now have milk all over the kitchen [and I still want some chocolate]. It's been one of those days. Maybe there's a bug going round Wimbledon? Djokovic is looking a bit spaced out as well.

granjura Wed 02-Jul-14 16:31:39

What on earth has happened to Serena Williams. In the double, before she bowed out- she looked totally stoned or as if she'd had a stroke sad

annodomini Wed 02-Jul-14 16:30:06

Djokovic is looking a little out of sorts and Wawrinka is giving Federer a hard time. Andy may not be alone.
