Is anyone else in training for Wimbledon? I watched 2 whole hours of Roland Garros yesterday! grin

Anniebach Fri 06-Jun-14 17:02:19

Aw, he lost in three sets, I blame the weather

ffinnochio Fri 06-Jun-14 12:40:22

I agree Anno. Big fan of Andy Murray due in part, no doubt, to the fact that there are similarities between him and my youngest son at comparable ages. hmm grin
Anyway, he's there to play tennis and to do what he loves, not to become idolized or demonized for his looks and character in front of the hungry media.

jinglbellsfrocks...I'm not sure what you mean. GrannyTwice suggested that those who read a post and then said that they did not enjoy the coverage of tennis or other sports were being mean spirited. No, just expressing our views , the same as you do .

annodomini Fri 06-Jun-14 10:12:12

So right, Anniebach. He was a very gauche young man when he first arrived on the scene. Now he interviews very thoughtfully. He is an excellent analyst of his own and other players' games. Also remember the hell the Murray boys went through when the Dunblane school massacre took place. That must have left a mark on them.

Anniebach Fri 06-Jun-14 09:55:19

Andy was a teenager when he came to our attention , so he was a Kevin at times, what of Johnny Mac ? he is a darling now - took a long time though .

And Andy did not receive the Wimbledon welcome previous British players received did he? It was all hail to ' I could crush a lettuce ' Tim Henman

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 06-Jun-14 09:33:06

Perhaps read the posts a bit more carefully ginny? hmm

ginny Fri 06-Jun-14 08:52:33

GrannyTwice and ffinnochio....Soutra asked if anyone else was in 'training'. She didn't say only answer if you are. Those of us who are not interested in sport are surely allowed our opinion. Nobody said they others shouldn't enjoy it. I enjoy a number of hobbies and interest but I'm not worried if others comment that they don't share them.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 05-Jun-14 23:01:35

That made me lol Nankate. grin

NanKate Thu 05-Jun-14 19:17:10

I feel sorry for AM's girlfriend when he loses a match because I bet he is an utter misery to live with.

Tegan if you think Rafa is stocky I think you had better adjust your horizontal hold. grin

merlotgran Thu 05-Jun-14 19:07:26

Can't stand him.

Riverwalk Thu 05-Jun-14 19:04:18

Revulsion is a bit harsh shysal grin

Admittedly he's a bit of a miserable-looking bugger!

shysal Thu 05-Jun-14 18:12:20

Sorry, Jingle, all I feel is revulsion when I watch AM. I usually agree with your choice of men, but not this time!

annodomini Thu 05-Jun-14 18:01:20

Sharapova is best watched with the sound turned off. Not that she's the only shrieker. I think it's Victoria Azarenka who matches her for decibels. It's awful if they are playing each other.

Tegan Thu 05-Jun-14 17:45:08

He has hunked out hasn't he! I had a theory that it was taking him a long time to grow into his body, unlike Rafa, who I think is the same age but was always strong and stocky.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 05-Jun-14 17:41:25

He ought to marry that girl though! hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 05-Jun-14 17:40:20

I like Andy. He's a sweetie. And he's not the little lad he used to be. lovely legs now and quite hunky

Tegan Thu 05-Jun-14 17:34:08

blush; points....! [typos are getting worse.....and more embarrassing]. I think I'm alone in not liking Federer much although I found him better wearing more normal tennis clothes this week rather than the white immaculate Wimbledon clothes with gold shock trainers. I love Rafa but will be gunning for Andy tomorrow.

Elegran Thu 05-Jun-14 17:28:18

Two pints of what? Sweat?

Tegan Thu 05-Jun-14 16:45:22

They were saying today that Andy conceded two pints that he should have won and they thought it was almost idiotic of him to do so. I've warmed to him over they years and look forward to seeing him play. However, I can't watch Sharapova [not sure if she won today or not]. I do actually want to slap her when she screams constantly and wouldn't watch her play if you paid me.

whenim64 Thu 05-Jun-14 13:59:04

Me too, Maggie. Should be a really exciting match.

Silverfish Thu 05-Jun-14 13:53:54

hope you can all stay awake

MaggieP Thu 05-Jun-14 13:35:30

I am looking forward to an afternoon of hopefully exciting tennis tomorrow with Rafa v Andy!

Anniebach Thu 05-Jun-14 10:23:08

NanKate,if Andy 'shouted nasties' possibly it was giving back what one is given . I am glad that the Wimbledon crowd appreciate good tennis no matter who is playing, the French sadly are not known for this if one of their country men is on court

Gagagran Thu 05-Jun-14 10:20:33

I find Murray very unappealing too NanKate - he always seems so surly and joyless. My favourite is Federer - such a gentleman and easy on the eye too. grin

NanKate Thu 05-Jun-14 10:13:11

Whenever I say I dislike Andy Murray I get a deluge of his fans saying otherwise. I do concede that he is a great tennis player.

Yesterday when he was in the Paris Open playing Gael Monfils he was making the most horrible grimaces at him and once shouted nasties at Gael's Box. When he said at the end Gael was one of his best friends, I wondered how he reacted to those he disliked.

Anyway I am getting round to saying that tomorrow when he plays my favourite Rafa (good sportsman) Nadal I will be shouting for Spain - so there. wink
