anyone else been watching it...I am finding it a good drama, but must admit it has been a bit brutal..especially last week with the young police lady.

merlotgran Tue 03-Jun-14 22:01:15

Excellent!!

There will surely be another series.

I've left the room as it gives me nightmares!
Don't know why as I can watch Games of Thrones without turning a hair. I think because it's brutal but realistic.

merlotgran Tue 03-Jun-14 20:09:24

Can't wait!

Oh dear. Not sure if I can bear to watch the last episode of Happy Valley tonight. It is so harrowing. I have to keep telling myself it is only acting. And brilliant acting at that.

Think he was just trying to look 'studenty'...

Quite

Tommy was holding a hand across his midriff whilst walking down the street, maybe he`d padded the wound well to stop the blood seeping through. Don`t quiyte get the point of the copy of War and Peace though, maybe I`m dim?

Great episode last night Sarah Lancashire at her best supporting actors so very well chosen and doing a brilliant performance.Looking forward to next week's episode.

Great drama. Always enjoy Sarah Lancaster.

I'm wondering if the counselor will come into it again or was he just used to show how some things are 'overlooked '?

The young boy is a great little actor and I do think something will happen with him next week.

All this because one man was jealous and held a grudge.

bikergran Wed 28-May-14 12:48:03

of course ! you must not read this thread until you have watched the episode! hmm lol

Ana Wed 28-May-14 12:40:40

But not more like the dreary Quirke...

Charleygirl Wed 28-May-14 12:38:36

I caught up this morning watching it on iplayer. The only blip (for me) was Tommy's remarkable recovery, bleeding to death one minute and walking down the street with no sign of recent injury the next. Still, a gripping hour.

bikergran Wed 28-May-14 12:38:28

Yes I too thought how Tommy had made it to the shops etc..as with that amount of blood he had lost I would have throught that the chap he strangled could have overpowered him..but then! I didn't write the script....will be sorry when next weeks episode has ended...been a good drama...come on BBC give us more!!!

Yes is excellent, find though am holding my breath almost all the way through! It is all so well done. Sarah Lancashire's acting is amazing and definitely think she may win a BAFTA for this performance. Was thinking up to now that it might be Keely Hawes, who might be up for it, for her intense performance in Line of Duty but now not so sure. Definitely a good year so far for fine female performances!X

An excellent series, brilliantly acted. The characters are very believable, and, very unusual for us, we actually look forward to the next episode. Well done BBC.

Yet another great episode, I too was exhausted after watching it, all the ups and downs of emotions. I even found myself feeling sorry for Tommy Lee which illustrates how fully formed the characters are, not just 'goodies' and ' baddies'. The wife of the accountant showed how ordinary folk can have their morals turned upside down when there is money, and Sarah Lancashire as the 'goodie' showed her human side when she just couldnt take any more from her grandson......and that little boy is a terrific actor, somehow he manages to portray, even at that age, that he is a little disturbed. Great stuff, and it brings out the literary critic in all of us smile

J52 Wed 28-May-14 09:15:40

So gripping! Can there be any more gore? I agree the son will be the focus of next week. I also wonder if the other characters ie. the accountant and caravan park owner will feature. More gore opportunity there! X

PRINTMISS Wed 28-May-14 08:35:15

Great series, felt really exhausted after last nights viewing, it was so involving, although just a little grudge, how did Tommy recover so quickly from his stab wound? Won't stop me watching the last episode thought!

ninathenana Wed 28-May-14 08:15:48

Agreed numberplease

Praise also to the actor playing Tommy. The way he makes us feel shows how good an actor he is.

whenim64 Tue 27-May-14 23:13:39

Fantastic drama. She's such a good actress and as others have said, BAFTAs should be awarded.

Ana Tue 27-May-14 22:44:40

Such a good performance from Sarah Lancashire as 'woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown' tonight. That Tommy Lee whatsit really is a psycho, isn't he? He makes my blood run cold...

merlotgran Tue 27-May-14 22:31:59

I think the climax will involve the grandson. It's been an excellent drama.

ninathenana Tue 27-May-14 22:23:59

Tonight's episode was just as gripping as the others. I hope next weeks conclusion isn't an anticlimax.

Ana Tue 27-May-14 20:47:13

Yes, looking forward to it as well!
