Any other sad person watching, now, on BBC 3 the first of the Eurovision Song Contest semi finals????

I think we stand a good chance of getting some points this year, hoo ra.

papaoscar Thu 08-May-14 09:17:42

Not the same without Wogan.

Tegan Thu 08-May-14 09:28:24

Wogan saw the funny side of Eurovision but Graham Norton taps in to it's frivoloty and campness. He also [unlike Wogan] seems genuinely interested in the songs [either that or he's done his homework. He was an inspired choice to present it.

Grandmanorm Thu 08-May-14 09:44:18

Thanks for the link Tegan I liked the song and hope it gets some points.

annodomini Thu 08-May-14 09:47:16

When Wogan referred to the Danish presenters as 'Dr Death and the Tooth Fairy', I thought he wouldn't last much longer but I think he did carry on for a few more years. It's probably not a description that would occur to Graham Norton!

I've just watched last night's semi final.

I am shocked. Ireland are OUT. I thought it was OK

Countries voted out were. Lithuania. Israel. Macedonia. Georgia.Ireland.

Tegan Fri 09-May-14 22:54:36

DARN IT; have realised the show is on at the same time as the German series I've been watching on Saturday night.

Can`t wait for tonight`s extravaganza at DS we are a mad Eurovision family and always have a party although all of can`t get there this year. We start off with a Chinese Takeaway followed by drawing a country out of the hat £5 each into the kitty and winner takes all. Bring it on.

GOOD LUCK MOLLY

rubysong Sat 10-May-14 15:38:23

Let us know which country you draw Sparky and we will cheer for them. We especially liked Switzerland. Shame about Ireland not qualifying.

Tegan Sat 10-May-14 16:10:05

Molly goes last I believe; prime spot. Definately will place I think. A good performance the Europe can't not vote for her [can they confused]?

POGS Sat 10-May-14 20:10:36

Good Luck Molly

A good excuse for a drink me thinks. wine

papaoscar Sat 10-May-14 20:19:20

Just started and the good old English language has won already! Wouldn't mind being there. Much better to see European young people enjoying themselves instead of fighting each other. Good luck to Molly!

POGS Sat 10-May-14 21:09:43

Good point of view there Papaoscar. Indeed better to be enjoying themselves not fighting. Enjoy.

The production is good and it is moving at a good pace me thinks.

Some good songs so far. Like Iceland, Greece, France and Russia.

merlotgran Sat 10-May-14 21:23:19

I think the French song is the best so far but I quite liked the Romanian entry as well.

Charleygirl Sat 10-May-14 21:26:40

I will find out who won tomorrow when I read the newspaper. I cannot stand it because of its political overtones.

Soutra Sat 10-May-14 21:29:54

What about the Cheeky Girls for Poland thenhmm ?

merlotgran Sat 10-May-14 21:34:32

We haven't got to that yet, Charleygirl. Shouting at the telly is the best bit.

WHAAAAAAAAT?????

You cannot be serious!

Fiddle!

Oh, they won't give us anything.

Why do we bother?????

I'm going to bed (in a huff) wine grin

POGS Sat 10-May-14 21:35:25

Charliegirl

I wouldn't bother reading it if I were you. confused

I like Sweden, Romania, Iceland and Finland. Mind you the Spanish girl was a brilliant singer.

POGS Sat 10-May-14 21:36:26

Merlot. grin

rubysong Sat 10-May-14 21:42:50

Malta. Is he playing a skateboard?

POGS Sat 10-May-14 21:47:39

Now I like Denmark the best so far.

merlotgran Sat 10-May-14 21:47:57

We wondered that, rubysong grin

Malta was good.

Denmark are right up there I think.

Ana Sat 10-May-14 21:50:54

Had a look, and realised why I haven't watched it for the last few years. Terry Wogan's commentary used to be the best part...

POGS Sat 10-May-14 21:51:55

Heck The Netherlands was good wasn't it.

merlotgran Sat 10-May-14 21:51:57

Some good songs in the second half.

Much higher standard this year I think.
