Did anyone watch the new three parter thriller Prey, on ITV at same time as Hinterland? It also had rave reviews and we were impressed with the production, so will have to watch Hinterland on iPlayer.

Seeing as this thread is about prey confused. I thought it was good. I liked the acting and not a bad story. It worked for me because it was a 3 parter so not spun out.

I watched all 3 parts tonight so maybe that was the best to watch it.

Last scenes of tonights episode was just as brutal as the death of the police woman. I was shouting at the TV that she should have called for backup as soon as she entered the cellar.
Can't wait for next week.

yes been watching Happy Valley...and yes I believe 2 more episodes yet...but as on the other thread..I thought last weeks episode was quite brutal..with the young policewoman...!

Ana Tue 20-May-14 22:42:51

Yes, you're right, merlot! How much more can I take....? shock

merlotgran Tue 20-May-14 22:33:28

I've just checked my TV guide and it looks as though there are two more episodes. shock

Tonight's was 4/6

Aka Tue 20-May-14 22:15:14

Ah ha! So there is another episode, thought that was a bit of a cliff-hanger.

(agree with your comments about Prey, it was spoilt by that flaw)

Ana Tue 20-May-14 22:13:10

What, Prey or Happy Valley? confused

Prey's finished, but Happy Valley ends next week - can't wait...[nail-biting emoticon]

Aka Tue 20-May-14 22:12:14

Mishap that was 'Prey'. We're talking about Happy Valley hmm

Aka Tue 20-May-14 22:09:46

What an ending!

(that was the last episode wasn't it?)

Aka Tue 20-May-14 22:09:00

Exactly Merlot

Mishap Tue 20-May-14 22:08:52

The fatal flaw in the whole story was, as someone has pointed out, that the policeman who found his wife dying did not simply ring the police when he was unable to save her and tell them what had happened - could have saved a lot of grief.

merlotgran Tue 20-May-14 22:06:07

Yes. Flippin' Heck!!!

Aka Tue 20-May-14 22:02:28

Did anyone watch Happy Valley tonight?

Caught up with Prey last night, and I rather agree with you rosesarered, so many obvious solutions to the problems that I became a little 'cross' with it all. Some really good people in the cast too, might watch just to see how it turns out, but really not a very good start.

Watched Prey [first episode] and didn't like it. Unconvincing.Would you really stagger outside to a muddy ditch to wash the blood off your hands? Why? Plenty of water in the kitchen or bathroom, and would you not be ringing for an ambulance or the police?Ridiculous. Also, as others say more of the mumbling school of acting, had to turn the tv way up to hear what certain actors were saying.A shame, as John Simms is a good actor.

Come back Last Tango in Halifax!

I thought Happy Valley was fairly gripping and well acted, but I was sorry to see yet another female victim being physically, mentally and sexually terrorised by a man.

On balance, I think I prefer Sally Wainwright's less doom-laden offerings.

rosequartz Wed 30-Apr-14 23:21:37

Ana, the menace portrayed is making me nervous.

PRINTMISS Wed 30-Apr-14 15:41:21

Watched 'Happy Valley' and enjoyed it. It will be interesting to see what twists and turns the story takes as it progresses, and I am looking forward to that.

I enjoyed watching Prey and even stayed awake all the way through for a change,it is very like The Fugitive in it's story line (1993 Harrison Ford) and I'm looking forward to next weeks episode,I do like everything Sarah Lancashire does she is so adaptable, an excellent actress.

annsixty Wed 30-Apr-14 15:00:46

We won't be staying the course I feel.Afte rthe rape and suicide of the daughter, the troubled GC,a wheelchair bound wife, another with liver cancer and a teenager in the hands of a drug dealing rapist ,I was ready for the 10o'clock news for a bit of light relief.

Ana Wed 30-Apr-14 14:55:10

Why?

rosequartz Wed 30-Apr-14 14:54:25

I do watch some programmes (eg Shetland) with subtitles on, but didn't think anything with Sarah Lancashire set in the North of England would be a problem! I'm hoping that the story will be wrapped up in episode 2 and we will then go on to something else. I don't think I can stand watching 6 episodes of the same story, it is making me very nervous.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 30-Apr-14 14:51:27

I hardly ever watch a tv drama without the subs on now. And I'm not particularly deaf. It just makes it easier to follow.
