'Strictly' - phew wink

sunseeker Fri 18-Apr-14 13:38:51

Apologies Eloethan - perhaps I should have said "should have retired".

Eloethan Fri 18-Apr-14 13:36:48

I think the term "put out to grass" is one that most older people would not appreciate being applied to themselves.

sunseeker Fri 18-Apr-14 12:55:26

I have no interest in whoever takes over as I don't watch the programme, but have felt that BF should have been put out to grass a long time ago. Just because someone has managed to survive for a long time does not make them a "national treasure", in my opinion he is a man of limited talent who happened to be in the right place at the right time and then hung on for far too long.

I am sure this will be met by howls from his fans but lets be honest, lately his main talent has been reading the auto-cue (and not very well!). In the past he could dance a little and sing a little but so could a lot of others.

Should I put on my tin hat now grin

Wise of him to know that it is time to go- bless him.

annodomini Fri 18-Apr-14 12:09:56

I saw him the other night on Michael McIntyre's programme. He was full of beans and still planning to enjoy life. Still a proficient tapper and tried to show MM how to do it.

Great for his age but had to stop at some time. I am sure we will see plenty of him still but not on Strictly. Let someone else have a go. Good luck Bruce and stay fit and well. You are a credit to the older generation.

it matters not one iota to me who fronts the prog. as I Never watch it !!

You can please some of the people all of the time.....

numberplease Thu 17-Apr-14 23:21:17

Oh, PLEEEEASE, no!!!

Ana Thu 17-Apr-14 22:11:29

I've heard it's going to be Claudia as well...

NanKate Thu 17-Apr-14 22:07:58

I read somewhere we are going to be lumbered with gawky Claudia who will irritate me beyond words, whilst looking out from her overlong fringe.

I do hope I am wrong and that it is Anton.

I will have to record the programme so that I can fast forward when the girls are twittering together.

Eloethan Thu 10-Apr-14 13:46:57

I agree with those who say that a woman of that age would never have had such a lengthy career in entertainment.

However, I do think some of the remarks about Bruce Forsyth are a bit unkind. He is quite "full of himself" and not everybody's cup of tea but in his time he was a very accomplished all-round entertainer.

merlotgran Wed 09-Apr-14 18:49:00

Don't worry, gma Saint Alan of gardening has fallen out with the BBC grin because they've dropped him from the Chelsea Flower Show.

Oldgreymare Wed 09-Apr-14 18:42:05

Agreed gma
What about a couple of the previous winners?

gma Tue 08-Apr-14 10:19:36

I'm really glad that Bruce Forsyth has finished Strictly Come Dancing. His cringe worthy "jokes" and oh so predictable banter spoilt the show for me. Maybe it is time for a new 'face' to present SCD, there must be lots of new talent waiting for a break on prime time tv, either male or female!!! Go on BBC, take a chance on a new face, they could not be any worse than BF!!!
Just so long as it is not Alan Titchmarsh!!!!!!!!

Oldgreymare Mon 07-Apr-14 18:51:59

No No No not Bradley Walsh!
Time for a complete change methinks...
New man/new woman!

Margsus Mon 07-Apr-14 17:01:32

Bradley Walsh would be great, he's very funny and knows how to work an audience

HollyDaze Mon 07-Apr-14 16:54:53

I would like another man to take Bruce's place but - the man must be under 50 years old, perfect body and devastatingly good looking. If it works as a rule for female presenters, why should female viewers be given some crusty old bloke again! I don't even care if he doesn't know anything about dancing blush

annodomini Mon 07-Apr-14 16:42:16

wink

rosesarered Mon 07-Apr-14 16:21:37

shock

annodomini Mon 07-Apr-14 15:51:24

Russell Grant! There you are - the perfect host!

rosesarered Mon 07-Apr-14 15:24:45

Thanks Deedaa At least one person agrees with me then!smile
Tab I thought you were talking about Luca Z, and I was interested about his porridge routine [until I realised it was Brucie you were talking about.]Then I lost interest.

Deedaa Sun 06-Apr-14 23:14:45

I think Luca would be brilliant roses Bruno could translate for him grin

Aka Sun 06-Apr-14 22:40:16

John Barrowman yuk! He simpers too.

merlotgran Sun 06-Apr-14 22:07:25

No chance! He was dropped from the One Show for inappropriate behaviour towards a female colleague which suggests he wouldn't be safe around all those sequins.
