'Strictly' - phew wink

Anne58 Sat 05-Apr-14 00:39:33

Haven't watched it for yonks, so perhaps I shouldn't really have an opinion, but must agree that it's well past Bruce's bedtime!

Last time I did see it I thought Bruce's comments came across as so scripted, and not very well scripted at that! Almost toe curling.

gillybob Fri 04-Apr-14 23:55:54

The young eh? They love dancing and can't appreciate the talent of a dribbling old fart presenter like Sir Brucie .

merlotgran Fri 04-Apr-14 23:52:42

Physically sick is a bit OTT.

gillybob Fri 04-Apr-14 23:48:41

"Old Brucie" should have given up years ago merlot but like a lot of the male BBC presenters they just don't know when to call it a day and give someone younger a chance. He was becoming a total embarrassment and I have to admit he didn't add to my enjoyment of strictly in any way.

merlotgran Fri 04-Apr-14 23:39:28

'Physically sick?' Poor old Brucie. Time he was put out to grass but not that bad surely?

annodomini Fri 04-Apr-14 23:36:17

I don't necessarily think Anton is the only one for the job, gillybob, I would bet on his getting it though!

gillybob Fri 04-Apr-14 23:22:43

I agree with anno Anton du Beke is the only man, person one for the job.

gillybob Fri 04-Apr-14 23:19:13

My DD sent me a text this evening saying "best news mum, I can watch the next series of Strictly without feeling physically sick" . hmm I think she has a point.

rosesarered Fri 04-Apr-14 23:10:19

grin one man's meat is another man's poison!

petra Fri 04-Apr-14 22:48:02

Please, not Ken Bruce. He's another one who goes twittering on when he can't think of anything intelligent to say.
There's only one: John Barryman.

Ana Fri 04-Apr-14 22:38:05

Not Alexander Armstrong, please!! He's so smug! [pained expression]

rosesarered Fri 04-Apr-14 22:35:03

I can take Tess [just] but not Claudia. Someone here suggested Alexander Armstrong, good choice I think.Smooth and not [very]annoying. Also what about the other Bruce [from radio 2] sounds like Terry Wogan? He is very funny and also sounds like a rather nice person.Hmmm, lots of choices really. Not Ant or Dec though please.Or Graham Norton.

Ana Fri 04-Apr-14 22:20:20

Oh yes, I see now, NanKate!

I've warmed to Claudia since Sewing Bee, but I do wish she'd ditch the 60's dollybird look. I find myself checking the length of her fringe all the time - it seems to vary from take to take!

NanKate Fri 04-Apr-14 22:06:10

I agree Numberplease, Claudia is the pits. Her hair in her face irritates me as well as her odd gait.

NanKate Fri 04-Apr-14 22:04:37

The three gays would be Craig, Bruno and Graham if he is chosen. I think their 3 personalities would clash.

numberplease Fri 04-Apr-14 22:00:38

Please, please, please, not Claudia Winkelpicker!

Ana Fri 04-Apr-14 21:49:08

Three gays, NanKate? confused I didn't think Tess and Claudia were gay...

annodomini Fri 04-Apr-14 21:46:13

Please, please, please, no Graham Norton. He's like a performing flea. If they don't have a woman or women, my money is on Anton du Bec.

JessM Fri 04-Apr-14 21:40:57

Be nice to see a bit of originality in choice. The BBC had told the management to basically stop being so sexist and giving all the best jobs to the boys in the club. So hope they take notice.

NanKate Fri 04-Apr-14 21:26:06

Brucie hung on too long, it is far better to leave when people still want you. I breathed a sigh of relief to hear of his departure.

I couldn't stand it if we had Claudia Winkleman as a regular. The way she runs on stage in a knocked knee manner makes me want to puke !

Now the two people who seem to be on everything (and I do like them) are Mary Berry and Clare Balding, but perhaps that is pushing it too far.

I would love them to have someone politically incorrect, such as the late Clarissa Dickson Wright or the Duke of Edinburgh.

I expect Graham Norton will be approached, he is a good amusing presenter, but that would make 3 gays which might cause some squabbling between them. This is just a statement not a criticism.

HildaW Fri 04-Apr-14 20:42:19

Merlot, quite agree....not Chris Evans!!!!

nightowl Fri 04-Apr-14 19:54:02

No I don't really like Tess and Claudia doing it together. Tess annoys me almost as much as Bruce. Too much posturing and looks kind of awkward. Hopeless interviewing skills. I find Claudia quite endearing but also quite mad, and I can only take her in small doses. Together I find them, well, just strange. But I can't think of who else could do it either.

kittylester Fri 04-Apr-14 19:31:15

About time too but it won't he the same will it? I don't like Tess and Claudia doing it together but can't think who else could do it

whatsgoingon Fri 04-Apr-14 19:23:54

Why does there need to be a replacement. The two girls Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly have always done a great job when Brucie has needed to take time off so why not let them do it between them and just think of the money the BBC would save on Brucies wages!

merlotgran Fri 04-Apr-14 19:05:39

I'm watching The One Show and Chris Evans is dropping some heavy hints as though it's a done job. PLEASE.....NOT HIM!!
