???
Me neither!

It was very gripping at the end but there was a bit where I thought the priest was a baddy. Who drove off in the car when Paul looked in the safe and found an empty notebook with the salamander logo on it? What was that all about?

There's obviously going to be a sequel but like Soutra I think it had more twists than Chubby Checker.

Didn't grab me as much as the Scandi noir series but loved the twist at the end (it was a twist wasn't it?confused )

It just gets better and I can't see the way out !!

I reckon that the baddies intend to use the information to carry out some sort of blackmail. My favorite is Montelbano - when we were in southern Italy last year we saw a village with that name.

Loved Salamander. It should prove a very enjoyable series. FYI Midsomer Murders this Wednesday celebrates it's 100th episode and is play homage to Nordic Noir by going over to Copenhagen. I am sure I read somewhere that the 'Killing' detectives are to feature in this episode. I may be wrong. It will be fun is so.

Just watched it in playback and we both thoroughly enjoyed it, can't believe poor Geraldi hasn't any friends to help him! Roll on next Saturday.

Just watched it and enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next episode.

I think Babylon tonight is going to be very good. We sometimes forget how good British programmes can be. We've learned a lot from the Scandinavians/Europeans recently but subtitles don't always mean quality viewing. However, good on my beloved BBC4 for introducing us to all of these series. I think I'll stick with Salamander [but it it isn't a 'must stay in to watch it' programme like The Bridge or The Killing].

Flowerofthewest Sun 09-Feb-14 12:15:04

Going to watch Salamander on catchup whilst soothing my pulled muscle on a hot water bottle. Cannot wait for The Bridge to return, missing Martin and Saga

Settled down excitedly to the BB4 Saturday slot, but frankly I've watched more exciting TV on Dixon of Dock Green.

Lona Sun 09-Feb-14 09:59:18

Can't stand subtitles so I never watch any of them.

Marelli Sun 09-Feb-14 09:50:15

I nodded off during the second part, but DH watched it all and said it was very good. I'll watch it again today on 'catch-up'. The Bridge will take some beating, but on a Saturday evening, BBC4 is the only channel to watch.

Lilygran Sun 09-Feb-14 09:34:51

We've decided to give next week's episodes a chance. I hope they bring back Spirals soon. We really enjoyed that.

Soupy Sun 09-Feb-14 09:29:22

Fine in so far as it goes but nowhere near the excellence of The Bridge.

We have recorded it for next week though!

It is a lovely city, if you ever visit and would like a tour around let me know.

mollie Sat 08-Feb-14 23:14:02

Seemed OK to me, nothing much new apart from it being in Belgium - never been but it looks nice if the programme is to be believed - nice to see a programme filmed in the daylight for a change.

felice Sat 08-Feb-14 23:08:16

Must have been filmed on a Sunday morning very early as Brussels is one of the most congested cities in Europe and parking as rare as hens' teeth.
The subtitling was awful, was making me cringe.
Will see how it pans out, it is on the telly here tonight too so will see how SO reacts to it.

Soutra Sat 08-Feb-14 22:56:58

And they can always find a parking space immediately and there is never any other traffic!

Ana Sat 08-Feb-14 22:49:13

Yes, that's how gripping these programmes are...grin

Tegan Sat 08-Feb-14 22:45:37

I gave up several series ago trying to understand what was happening in any of them so I just watch and let it all wash over me. Did nod off part way through tonights episode and it wasn't a problem. Is the monk his brother? And why does he sometimes lock his car and sometimes doesn't [in fact, no one locks their cars on tv confused].

merlotgran Sat 08-Feb-14 22:37:58

I watched it. I hope to get the hang of it next week. hmm

Soutra Sat 08-Feb-14 22:36:53

You know somebody who doesn't? Who doesn' t watch Montalbano / The Killing / The Bridge / Borgen??? confused

Ana Sat 08-Feb-14 22:30:31

Oh yes - we all watch BBC4 of course, it's mandatory! (Mumsnet wannabes please note...)

Soutra Sat 08-Feb-14 22:28:12

OK... Thread title...? yes?
Saturday night new subtitled thriller is a Belgian "policier" called Salamander. Anyone who knows what is going on please enlighten me!!

Ana Sat 08-Feb-14 22:22:10

Wot you on about, Soutra? Give us a clue, at least...grin
