Eye candy

Is it me? Or are there some male TV presenters who are exceedingly easy on the eye these days? I am thinking of Simon Reeve (Pilgrimage) Michael Scott (Greeks) Brian Cox (who looks much too young to be an eminent scientist), even Paxo - depending on your taste) among others.
I know my Mum used to like "that nice Michael Aspel" but are there more good looking "nice young men" - or is it me? wink

Nothing wrong with raging hormones at all merlot, it's just that I seem to have mislaid mine sometime after the millennium grin.

I agree about not being listened to Tegan. I find myself becoming ever more invisible (and inaudible) these days. I'm afraid women are as likely to ignore me as men. Annoying.

Tegan Sat 18-Jan-14 11:57:11

No hormones involved; just a desire to find myself having a conversation with said dishy person and having them interested in what I was saying and not being put off by my being old [it does happen with men; they hang on every word spoken by young attractive ladies, I find]. No hanky panky involved. The biggest fantasy would be to have a conversation with Paxman and for him to think I had a slight grain of intelligence [although I'd be so nervous the verbal diarrhea that I'm prone to would kick in sad].I think that was also the reason for Andrew Marr being my secret crush.

Raging hormones on Gransnet, nightowl? Nothing wrong with wishful thinking. grin

Tegan I am with you there about David Buck. He did die young, at only 53. I think he died of cancer.

David Buck (17 October 1936 – 27 January 1989)

Don't even drool nowadays henetha! I'm more likely to drool over a dog or a chocolate cake grin

henetha Fri 17-Jan-14 17:49:14

I only drool from a distance! Not sure I would want one up close and personal now!

nightowl Fri 17-Jan-14 17:42:15

I am amazed that there are still some raging hormones around judging by this thread. I think mine died a long time ago because I really couldn't be doing with the bother of fancying a bloke after all this time. The only person I might make an exception for is Kevin off Grand Designs.....or maybe Leonard Cohen hmm

But come to think of it, naaah, too much effort. I'd rather have a good book and a cuppa. (Boring? What, me?)

merlotgran Fri 17-Jan-14 17:29:44

I like Jules. He has that ruddy cheeked, farmer's son look about him AND he can ride a horse grin

Monty Don is still on my list.

henetha Fri 17-Jan-14 17:26:16

I drool over Jules Hudson on Escape to the Country. Also love Paxo, and David Dimbleby.... grin

JessM Fri 17-Jan-14 17:19:42

Have to confess that the rather rumpled looking (in the GN photo) of Michael Moseley had a certain appeal. grin You lot are going to shout me down aren't you now...
Can't see the appeal of the granite jawed types like young Snow and Tristram Hunt. Although I can see that they are conventionally handsome.

lujaha Fri 17-Jan-14 16:37:16

Yes I agree Brolga is a lovely man and the Aussie accent is divine. But my main one is Monty Don. Nice to watch too particularly with that straw hat on.

LyndaW Fri 17-Jan-14 11:55:11

I quite like that Matt Baker from the One Show and CountryFile. Rather more age appropriate eye candy for me would be Paxo of course. While we're on the subject though could somebody please enlighten me as to the supposed appeal of Andrew Marr. Interesting to listen to, yes. Attractive? Not so much.

Tegan Fri 17-Jan-14 11:41:37

Envious; Cillian looks far more sinister in films/tv series etc. He also plays in a band and has the most wonderful Irish accent [with the voice to go with it]. He's also, for all his gorgeousness, a father of two boys and a devoted husband which I find incredibly attractive. Andrew Marr was one of my secret crushes [don't google him; he's the polar opposite and not at all pretty!] until it was in the news that he'd cheated on his wife.

Tegan Fri 17-Jan-14 11:38:10

...and looking for a wife I believe wink....

Judthepud2 Fri 17-Jan-14 11:07:47

Oh yes, KatyK. Have just been watching this series on iplayer. Brolga is an amazing man and rather fanciable.

KatyK Fri 17-Jan-14 10:07:14

Can I throw another one into the mix? Having been watching Kangaroo Dundee, Chris 'Brolga' Barnes who runs the kangaroo sanctuary in Australia is absolutely lovely (IMHO). It's not just his good looks but the tender way he looks after the kangaroos and carries the joeys around in pouches with their heads sticking out is so endearing. A real man. smile

Granny23 Fri 17-Jan-14 03:35:49

It's the voice that does it for me, along with the big brown eyes. I'm talking about the MP for the Western Isles and have to admit to avidly watching PMQ's to catch a glimpse blush

janeainsworth Fri 17-Jan-14 03:04:04

Agree with the comments about voices. I have Bruce the Australian on my TomTom. He's lovely.
And does anyone remember Mike Raven on the radio?
'This is Mike Raven, and this is my R&B show.'
Swoon. blush

Jeremy Brett was in My Fair Lady...he was Freddy her beau that sang the song "On the street that you live" Also a great Sherlock Holmes! grin

grannyactivist Fri 17-Jan-14 00:30:15

confused Who are all these people? The only names I know are Jeremy Paxman and Martin Clunes (I looked up the Cox fellow after a previous mention on GN). confused

Enviousamerican Thu 16-Jan-14 23:26:18

The picture I just saw of Cillian Murphy..he's almost pretty shock maybe I was dropped on my head as a baby! confused hmm

Tegan Thu 16-Jan-14 23:19:38

..actually David Buck didn't die young;don't know why I thought that.

Tegan Thu 16-Jan-14 23:17:35

Honestly? Can't imagine two men that look so different. Jeremy Brett was gorgeous. Does anyone remember David Buck who used to be in the BBC horror stories? Sadly he died quite young. Of course, at the moment my big crush is Cillian Murphy.

Enviousamerican Thu 16-Jan-14 23:06:02

RIP Jeremy Brett. I googled every one of the mentioned men...meh...I guess if I was stranded on a desert island....grin I still prefer Martin Clunes..did you know he was a cousin of Jeremy?

Deedaa Thu 16-Jan-14 22:29:38

Haven't seen the new D'Artagnan but I remember Jeremy Brett being stunning in the part in the early 60's!
