Hi just watched this on BBC Wales it was brilliant very much like wallander I do not know if it will be shown on BBC 1 but it should a small smattering of welsh spoken which did not detract from the story at all I am not a welsh speaker but I thought it was very good I hope you all get to see it

Welcome, seclusion, don't be nervous. We may be slightly eccentric - well, totally bonkers on occasion - but, for the most part, we don't bite.

used to ...!

Grannyknot Fri 24-Jan-14 16:28:13

seclusion I was also a bit nervous to post in the beginning but if you put your head above the parapet, people will get used 'the sound' of you and include you! Welcome to GN, I love your username.

And I love Hinterland.

Only one more episode! Filmed in better weather it seems.
If you enjoyed this you might like to rent the Welsh film, Patagonia. it is subtitled in Welsh and Spanish 50:50 , No murder mysteries but it has got the lovely Matthew Rhys (He's played Dylan Thomas, buthas he played Burton yet? Surely nobody else could get cast?) and contrasting scenery of rural wales and patagonian desert.

Well I agree ladies the second episode didn't let me down. The only niggle I had was there were bits in it that seemed very similar to the first episode, the lingering shot on a photo, the envelope containing vital evidence and he found another tin to rattle although it wasn't opened this time.
I do hope they film in the Summer too as so far its far too much like real life Wales, cold wet and bleak a lot of the time grin they actually do have some beautiful Summer weather..

I loved this week's even better, because there weren't any loose ends left annoying me. Agree that it is very beautiful. It really reminded me of the first series of the swedish version of Wallander that was shown.

Grannyknot Wed 15-Jan-14 15:00:21

than... not that!

Grannyknot Wed 15-Jan-14 15:00:06

tanith no contest. It's actually better that the first one.

tanith Wed 15-Jan-14 13:56:06

I just watched the first episode and have to agree I thought it was very good. Loved all the beautiful but sometimes brooding landscape a good story well told.. now do I spend another 90 odd minutes watching the second episode as its so wet and miserable out grin

Grannyknot Wed 15-Jan-14 09:47:41

It is gorgeous around there.

Jess I live in London. And I am so over living in a big city. I'd be happy to come here as a tourist once in a blue moon. I'm retiring this year but husband will still be working so there is no escape for me at present.

Flowerofthewest Wed 15-Jan-14 09:36:00

nb Hope I don't see any of my relatives in the street scenes. (Oh no they are Pembrokeshire)

Flowerofthewest Wed 15-Jan-14 09:35:21

Really enjoyed it, think I have missed the second episode sad hope not. Will get it on catch up though.

JessM Wed 15-Jan-14 09:29:06

Don't know where you live grannyknot .... In summer it is very green.

tanith Wed 15-Jan-14 09:25:58

A lot of this series is filmed around the Aberystwyth/Borth area, I have family there and they rave about it , must find it on iplayer today and see what all the fuss is about.. apparently I might see a relative or two in the street scenes grin

Grannyknot Wed 15-Jan-14 08:36:06

LOL we thought that was filmed in summer! We love the moody landscape and seascape shots. Smashing.

JessM Wed 15-Jan-14 08:12:18

Foreign language grin - its the main one round 'ere but it is good to see on the TV how bilingual Welsh people operate.
DH said "do you think we're going to get an episode filmed in the summer?" grin

Grannyknot Wed 15-Jan-14 07:43:36

Having watched Episode 2 last night, never mind best Welsh thing, this is the best thing on telly at the moment. Knocks socks off every other crime drama including The Bridge. Atmospheric, beautiful cinematography, great cast, foreign language with subtitles smile what's not to like?

JessM Sat 11-Jan-14 20:38:13

Yes I agree. Best Welsh thing since Gavin and Stacey. grin

gettingonabit Thu 09-Jan-14 12:36:45

jess I meant Welsh-speaking telly!

And miles better than Dr Who, in my humble opinion!

JessM Wed 08-Jan-14 19:02:25

What, even better than Dr Who gettingonabit ?

maxdrans Wed 08-Jan-14 14:14:26

I'm glad you all enjoyed Iam looking forward to the rest of the series and I agree it should be on regular BBC channels

gettingonabit Wed 08-Jan-14 13:03:56

grannynot I don't get why it's not broadcast on regular BBC either. It's already been on S4C ( completely in Welsh). I assumed, when it was shown on BBC, it would be in Welsh with subtitles. They've completely redone it, in English! Not sure why.

Best thing to come out of Welsh telly in ages!

Grannyknot Wed 08-Jan-14 12:53:52

Husband and I loved this maxdrans - thanks! I see there's another one on Monday 13th so will record that too.

Why don't they put it on the regular BBC channels?!!
