A scarey final episode - the little old lady's image cropping up over the centuries was chilling, as were the final scenes.

Yes indeed, Ana, poor old Chandler is left bereft again...though he can console himself with the knowledge that he looks pretty damn good with his top off.

Should have read his dad's message, shouldn't he? I thought it was very well done, and enjoyed it. Was not particularly scared by it, but then I was sitting comfortably in my own home with the other half near by. Had a terrible night's sleep last night, though, perhaps Whitechapel was the reason.

The first two series had quite good ideas but this has just been boring. I have finally given up on it.

Looks like I'm the only one still enjoying it then! I nearly bought a Zombie Apocalypse experience for my strapping son-in-law on his birthday. Good job I didn't, as he's said he would have been scared witless!

After seeing Rupert P something on tv on Tuesday, I tried to watch Whitechapel last night.
What a mess! Shan't bother again.

Ana I do seem to vaguely remember the chaps back story, but I'm pretty sure it isn't sufficient to excuse looking like a startled sheep or a potentially incontinent prep-school pupil.

Of course, that is only my opinion...........

There may well be a school of drama that specialises in training its pupils in these particular styles. Rather a limited demand, I would think.

I watched it all but almost gave up half way. It was a relief to get to the news.

What's irritating me about this series is that it's obviously out to shock, without any proper lead-in or 'ordinariness' at all.

Way back when it first started, the storylines were believable and the main characters weren't all closeted away in the gloom of the Whitechapel police HQ offices, hearing sinister footsteps. Gruesomeness seems to be the order of the day in so many tv dramas these days.

I agree, phoenix. I used to be glued to Whitechapel but DH and I chatted all the way through tonight's episode only keeping half an eye on it. Goodness knows how they function as a police station.

I was about to start a thread, having just watched the latest episode, but luckily I checked first!

A few questions:

1) Does nothing happen in daylight hours?
2) How do they work in such gloom, has anyone thought to contact HR or Health and Safety
3) Those flickering fluorescent tubes, surely enough to trigger a migraine, plus add comments relating to 2)
4) OCD chap, ffs get some sort of help, or at least stop giving us that look that seems to be somewhere between a small boy about to wet himself at a party, or a sheep tangled in barbed wire. That is not acting, it is pulling faces and making odd noises.

Heh heh! I actually did sleep very well! I love being scared to death at a safe distance from real life - I'm sure I wouldn't dare watch anything like this ever again if I lived alone though. If my other half's ever away, I leave the light on and read Jane Austen instead of Tess Gerritsen.

Two of my most favourite actors on screen at the same time and I'm too frightened to watch them very scary !!

Do you have to do that to yourself, Maggie? I saw Whitechapel a couple of times and decided that was enough.

I watched one episode when it was on before and didn't like it at all - too gloomy, gruesome and downright weird.

This is a really weird programme, and I watch it, trying to make sure whether I like it or not, and I still do not know!

I've just watched the last 4 episodes back to back. 4 hours of nerve-shredding evil and dimly lit hokum. I'm now off to bed to pull the covers over my head - just like the mad loon wearing his dead mother's face did before flinging the duvet off and flaying his bedfellow alive.... Sweet dreams.
