I love it and have enjoyed hearing a bit about it from GrandmaMiney I never felt I had to vote for her daughter. Good luck to Susannah tomorrow and a stiff drink to her Mum cos I think she will need it to get through the programme.

Soutra Fri 20-Dec-13 17:45:43

When in a hole jingl stop digging.
While I am sure grandmaminey IS made of sterner stuff, to suggest she was canvassing for votes was unacceptable and a simple "Sorry" would have done. If it were my daughter I would find the stress and excitement challenging enough without sniping on a forum where I would hope to find moral support from my friends.

Nelliemoser Fri 20-Dec-13 16:56:26

I am not a watcher either! These threads read like a soap opera to me.

What I dislike about all these programs and celebrity mags is that the contestant etc, are always referred to by the forenames as if we are on first name terms with them all. I have never heard of half of them.

MrsSB Fri 20-Dec-13 16:31:40

I dont think GrandmaMiney has been actively canvassing for votes. I have found it interesting to have a bit of background info too. I have voted, apart from when we've watched SCD later in the evening on playback, and when I've thought Susanna deserved votes I have voted for her. However, when I've thought that someone else deserved the votes more then I have voted for them. While it is a competition, it is also entertainment, and maybe some of us who are not directly involved, and, as such, are just viewers, could be taking it just a little too seriously?

Bez Fri 20-Dec-13 16:20:50

I totally agree with your sentiments Gr23A. - although I have not contributed to the thread it has been very interesting reading a bit about behind the scenes. I missed most of this series because in US but will no doubt watch tomorrow evening - it is always interesting to see another side of 'personalities' from whatever sphere and how they progress week by week. I wish them all well but unfortunately only one can actually win - will no doubt be a difficult decision.
wine. wine and maybe something stronger for the nerves Miney

Charleygirl Fri 20-Dec-13 15:38:40

Jingl we are not voting just because we like Susanna's mum. It is a total coincidence that she is a member of GN. Susanna is a very good dancer and has improved 100% over the last few weeks. She has not danced before, she has a job which is hundreds of miles away from the family and she also manages to find time to rehearse with Kevin from Grimsby. Need I mention that she is over 29? I take my hat off to her as it is gruelling work and this week they are dancing x3.

I will sit back tomorrow evening with a lovely supper and some wine and enjoy the show. I will not be voting for an ex professional dancer so that narrows the field.

Grannyknot Fri 20-Dec-13 15:38:29

jbr I don't even vote! We pick our family favourites and that's it, got nothing to do with anyone's mum. Anyway we've already had the 'is it or is it not a dancing competition' discussion ...

jinglbellrocks Fri 20-Dec-13 15:27:54

Are n' t we supposed to vote for the dancing, on merit alone. Not because you like her mum! tchgrin

Grannyknot Fri 20-Dec-13 15:10:36

Lots and lots of luck to all the contestants, including Susannah. It's been lovely having the 'insider' view from Miney, made it more interesting. I can't imagine having a daughter involved in something like this, and being a Gransnetter, and not sharing it with my mates on here.

In one way or another, they all deserve to win and they are all winners already for taking part.

Ana Fri 20-Dec-13 13:06:35

I don't think GrandmaMiney has retired hurt, or gone off in a huff - she's made of sterner stuff!

Good luck to all the contestants this weekend (but especially Susannatchwink)

Nonu Fri 20-Dec-13 12:31:46

Me too , lots of luck to you Suzannah !

tchsmile

Galen Fri 20-Dec-13 12:27:57

grandmaminey come back please! we want to hear from you!
Pretty please with marshmallows?

Sook Fri 20-Dec-13 12:21:58

GrandmaMiney I for one would love to see your beautiful daughter win. Here's to Susannah wine

Soutra Fri 20-Dec-13 12:12:04

Seems ike the Christmas bonhomie has run out a bit early this yeaar - or did someone just get out of the wrong side of bed?
GrandmaMiney, at no point have I been aware of your soliciting votes for Susanna. Those of us who have chosen to support the daughter of a GN friend have done so entirely of our own volition and it is petty and mean spirited of anybody to suggest otherwise. So back off jinglebellsetc and keep your adverse effect to yourself. tchangry

JessM Fri 20-Dec-13 12:02:58

Yes good luck to Susannah (said with a twinge of regret that a certain gymnast is not a finalist this year - that was the sexiest bit of dancing I've ever seen!)

MiceElf Fri 20-Dec-13 11:52:03

I've never watched, but now I shall, and vote for Susannah, anyone with a lovely mum like grandma Miney gets my vote.

Tegan Fri 20-Dec-13 11:39:29

I have to admit to not being a 'Strictly' watcher; never have been but must say that it always adds an extra edge to anything when you have a 'connection' of some kind to it, whether it's a tv programme or sport of some kind. Which means that, for once I'll probably watch it tomorrow and hope that Susanna does well. I'll not vote cause I never have but my thoughts will be with GrandmaMiney knowing how nervous she'll be [and, how proud; win or lose]. Good luck.

Elegran Fri 20-Dec-13 11:32:10

I've not even been watching it before (doing other things), but I shall watch the final and vote.

janthea Fri 20-Dec-13 11:15:59

GrandmaMiney It's been very interesting reading your posts and ignore the 'nay-sayer' We are all rooting for DD tomorrow evening.

moomin Fri 20-Dec-13 10:57:01

Good luck to all the dancers tomorrow night is what I say! I reckon it's a pretty close call between all four of them. I'm sure we are all independent enough to vote (if we wish) for whomever we think should win the trophy so I don't find it a problem if GrandmaMiney asks for support.

Susanna has does really well and deserves to be in the final, that's for sure smile

Granny23 Fri 20-Dec-13 10:50:19

Was just coming on to say exactly what Anno has said when she beat me to it. So I'll just add some thanks from me and, I have no doubt, many others who have found that your insider knowledge and personal involvement have given added interest to the competition for us all. Your Daughter has done you proud and thoroughly deserves our support on her own merits. I remember your determination when you were walking a marathon - it must run in the family.

Please ignore the attention-seeking poster who cannot bear to see someone else in the limelight and don't deprive us of sharing in this final hurdle - 1st, 2nd or 3rd - the girl did good. grin

Galen Fri 20-Dec-13 10:48:04

Good luck Susannahtchsmile

Galen Fri 20-Dec-13 10:47:20

Don't Jing that's not nice!

jinglbellrocks Fri 20-Dec-13 10:46:18

I would n' t do it. That's for sure.

A nno, I am always my usual self.

merlotgran Fri 20-Dec-13 10:38:09

That's what mums are for jingl

I've enjoyed having someone to follow from week to week and Susanna has done us proud getting through to the final.

Good Luck tomorrow, Susanna tchgrin
