Here we go!!!!!!!!
GrandmaMiney. I'm glad you popped back to give us an update. Well done! Whatever the outcome tonight, you have every reason to be very proud. Looking forward to a great show. Toi toi toi!
Good luck for tonight GrandmaMiney I hope Susannah does really well! I was watching the four girls on Breakfast this morning and it struck me that in a way it hardly matters who wins. They've all done so well and had such a good time. Obviously there will be a winner, but I don't feel the other three should feel that they've failed in any way. Tonight will be a great finale however the results go.
How could I let tonight's final start without thanking you for all your kind and supportive posts and messages. Huge
and thanks.
Yesterday, stress was high and my thin skin let things get to me, which was stupid. It is an SCD forum and all comments are welcome. DD has always said "Mum, if you read the good things, you have to accept the bad--or don't read any." The past few months have been a huge learning curve--and not just for DD.
.
I won't be there tonight, daft woman that I am, I'm afraid I'll bring her bad luck. And rest assured there is no bubbly stuff on ice. Whatever face is shown to the public, we are all very, very nervous--and DD must be knackered
I shall be watching 'home alone'.
The joy is that all 'The Girls' are brilliant, they have different skills and personalities, but they all love the journey they've been on and it will be a brilliant show. I admire them all. At the risk of being thought 'meh', I will just share a comment that sums up why I shall be voting for Susanna tonight, even though she's not the best technical dancer. [She's 43 for goodness sake!!)
This was posted today by a Mum on one of the websites following an article about predictions for tonight:
"My daughter has the same enthusiasm and passion, yet is struggling at the moment. You have shown her kindness in the past few weeks Susanna, by noticing her and sharing a few words. She is at the RAD. Thank you."
This is the DD I know and love. Have a great evening--only just over an hour to go

What a great family Susanna has supporting her. Grandmaminey your words were moving and inspiring. Everything is crossed for tonight. I'm making an occasion of it, with fizzy stuff and nibbles at the ready. It should be an exciting final.
Just watched ITT from last night, and I must say GrandmaMiney that you did so well, I would have been blubbering like an idiot!
Can't wait to see who wins now
Merry Christmas.......
I also watched it on iPlayer last night and found what GrandmaMiney and Susanna's children and husband had to say, very moving. It is very much a family and team effort as somebody has to babysit the children to allow Susanna to be away from home for so long. They are so proud of their mum and so they should be. I do hope that nerves do not take over and she does well tonight.
I've just caught up with it on iPlayer. Can't wait now.
Good Luck Susanna!!!!!!
I watched It takes Two late last night/early this morning. The S.O. has given me the low down of the people involved [although he doesn't watch SCD he seems to know all the politics of it]. I thought Kevin was delightful [a sort of SCD version of Gareth Malone] and he and Susannah seem to have injected a lot of warmth and humour to the series. As a newcomer to Strictly I get the impression that the chemistry between the 'celebrity' and the 'professional' is all important, in which case it looks good for those two. As for voting, I think it's a bit like when a child goes to a school where their parent teaches; they have to do that bit better to prove there's no favouritism, and I'm sure that's how it is on here with the voting and everyone actually questions their motive for voting for Susannah before they cast their vote. Yes, I was in tears seeing her families comments. Sometimes it takes something like this to make us realise that famous people have mums and children and that they all have feelings that can be easily hurt.
I have never watched any of it until I read this thread! All very moving.
Just caught you on iplayer, Sue. You did a great job, your words had me sobbing! Good luck to all the finalists. May the best one on the night win!
You can't resist it can you jinglebelletc. Sometimes when you can't find owt to say, best say nowt!
That team thing didn't do a lot for you-know-who. Don't go there!
I've just watched 'It Takes Two' on iPlayer. Loved the messages for Susannah from her family, what a lovely bunch you are, and now I want her to win. #teamsusannah
Oldgreymare - In a way, I'd rather record it and watch in peace later, when you can really enjoy it ... alone. Depends how soon you COULD watch it back, if may be next morning, avoid radio /papers before hand, and ask everyone not to divulge results. Enjoy, whatever you do
Dilemma Oldgreymare - do what feels best for you I'd say. If you decide to watch it live, get firm about not having interruptions. It's so frustrating when you are gripped by something on tv. and the rest of the family talk loudly through it, asking endless questions about 'whose that", etc.
Pull rank. Wish I could.
Oh dear, No. 2 son and DIL do NOT like 'Strictly'!
My dilema: a) do I watch in another room?
b) do I record it and hope no-one tells me the result?
c) do I 'pull rank' and watch, regardless, in the comfort of the
lounge?
GrandmaMiney is a mother and so wants support for her DD which is what all of us would want if we were in the same boat, nothing wrong with that.
On the other hand Susanna works for the BBC and several times over the past few weeks her name has been highlighted way above the other contestants. Is this fair?
The BBC is supposed to be unbiased.
I`m usually making tea when It Takes Two is on, so we record it and watch later. Like an idiot, I didn`t realise that it was on for an hour tonight, so have just had to watch the last half hour on IPlayer, so managed to see Grandmaminey after all! Even if Susanna doesn`t win, I hope she gets through the first section, because I want to see hers and Kevin`s show dance. Good luck to all for tomorrow night.
Of course GrandmaMiney hasn't been driven away from this thread! She's busy elsewhere...
Can we let the subject of jingl's tactless comment drop now, please...?
I really hope Grandmaminey has not been driven away from this thread because of a nasty remark by one person who has come back yet again and seems to like stirring and causing discord.
Until now it has been a happy enjoyable and interesting thread. I too have been interested in knowing some of the background information. I must watch the Takes Two and catch up.
We can all make up our own minds on who to vote for. Personally, I've voted for Susanna several times, but lately voted for Abbi, as I felt she was the better dancer. Would never vote for Natalie as she came in with such an advantage over the oters, and hasn't improved so much.
Please report back when you can Grandmaminey, and good luck for tomorrow night.
I've just seen her too, what a build up to the final, everyone crying buckets!! This is so exciting, can't wait until tomorrow evening, good luck to all the finalists, in my book they are all winners.
OMG I have just seen Grandmaminey on It Takes Two!! Not a dry eye in the house. No wonder Susanna has such a positive attitude - you can be very very proud of her
