Grandparents on Child of Our Time

Isn't it noticeable that the girls are all that bit more mature than the boys, both physically and emotionally? It's sad to see the families that have broken up, although the children do seem to be coping very well. How well Eve is coping with the death of her mother, I think her father is being very wise, giving her the opportunity to talk but not pushing if she doesn't wat to. It made me wonder how my GS would manage without his mother. Doesn't bear thinking about!

Hi Mishap I watched it and enjoyed it very much, I preferthe older serious that was made in the sixties, but I did enjoy watching it and loved what the Gran said about really enjoying her few years with the triplets when they were babies and made me realise that it is for a very short time that they are so little.

I don't find it twee - but I do think it is over-produced. All that zapping around and unnecessary camerawork - I get quite cross with that - less is more when it comes to cameras.

I think this series will be particularly interesting with the children being at such a fascinating age.

I have managed to escape from the first two episodes without a complex!

I think much of the programme has become very twee and middle class. Especially the bit with the grandparents. Like those magazines that make you think, why isn't my life like that? And then get a complex.

The kids are lovely of course.

Yes - what an extraordinary girl. Her Dad (and her Mum, when she was alive) did a great job with her.

Yes you are very lucky to have them near - I'm sure they get a lot from being with you both.

Did you see the second programme, with Eve, who lost her Mum when she was about 8? She was so mature, it really had me in tears when she was playing the harp and singing, and her Dad said her Mum was musical too, and how wonderful it would have been, for them to share that love of music.

Exactly what I thought. It was lovely.

We are also lucky that 3 GC live nearby and the two wee boys have a lovely relationship with my OH. He is not fit enough to do active things with them - we leave that to their very active dad! - but they sit engrossed in books and talk science and the universe for many happy hours, huddled in a corner somewhere.

They also have the other set of grandparents nearby and I always think what lucky little chaps they are to have such a raft of very different people near them who all love them equally and bring different things into their lives.

I find this type of programme fascinating, to see back to when they were little, and try and spot how they might turn out. Also like 7 Up.

The grandparents really touched me, when the Grandad was trying to hide his emotion, was lovely. I thought what a great early start those two boys had, with such loving grandparents clsoe at hand.
