Gosh this programme about a paediatric brain surgeon and his team (BBC2 Wednesday) is heart rending. What a lovely man he is but the poor poor parents facing life saving surgery for their little ones - well, it's incredibly moving - but also uplifting.

I have been been watching this series and the team from the surgeon down are absolutely fantastic, they are what is still good about the NHS. Its very moving.

I have been glued to this series too. What a lovely lovely man ?Raj is - so caring but with a wicked sense of humour. It certainly puts a different perspective on one's own problems.

Thinking back to former times when surgeons were treated and behaved like 'very important people', the lovely Raj and his team are so ordinary and unassuming.

I'm really glad that the age of deference is just a distant memory.

It also brings home that we could all fall victim to brain tumours.

Sadly even in these times Elijay! My neighbour is a retired surgeon who still thinks he is more important than the Man 'Upstairs', whether in daily life or when harking back to his days of the Big I Was. Luckily they are a dying breed hmm

@Gally Poor man, he is obviously hating retirement and finding it hard to adjust. I knew a man who insisted on being referred to as Major, it turned out he'd been in the catering core, no awards for bravery there.

I usually avoid medical programmes like the plague but caught an episode of this programme when it was being repeated in the early hours of one morning,,and couldn't stop watching it. I had to laugh when one Dr said that when he worked in London people would come in with really serious problems but now he was in Oxford people came in worrying about their memory if they had accidentally misquoted Shakespeare [or something like that].
