Does anyone dare mention 'that' song...? Perhaps they'll play it at his funeral. No disrespect intended.

Very sad. A good age though.

I was going to call a thread on this, "Grandad has died". *Mamie beat me to it.

Actually I was going to put the "Grandad" in quotation marks!

Grandad

What a shame. We still watch the Dad's Army repeats.

Clive Dunn was brilliant in Dad's Army, wasn't he? We still watch it every week even though we've seen each episode over and over again. I think lots of us can identify with his 'headless chicken' panicking, too! Definitely been there! (Didn't like 'Grandad' though).

My 11 year old grandson has discovered Dad's Army. He loves it. Laughs his little socks off! smile

It's good because they are doing WW2 at school. It all helps.

Goodbye Clive... you made me laugh! flowers

Is Ian Lavender the only one left now? What a legacy, though, to still be making people laugh and feel happy after all those years.

I still love Dad's Army. Yes, Ian Lavender is the only one left now. It must be strange for him really. Clive Dunn always took 'elderly' parts yet he was only in his 50's in Dad's Army I believe.

Another of Clive Dunne's songs - and he was only 42 when he recorded this!

Too Old

Dad's Army is a great way of teaching young children about the home front in WW2. It's all there....Rationing, make do and mend, digging for victory, the Land Army, black market, blackouts, air raids etc., etc., and Private Godfrey being a conscientious objector. A perfect history lesson in every episode.
