Is anyone else confused by the roles that the pathologists are taking in this series - they appear to more like detectives/private investigators now. Also DOH and I think that the story lines have become way too far-fetched. In fact, we just had to switch off!

I had the sub-titles on last night. grin Are we sure it's not just us getting old? DD always seems to be able to hear these things without any trouble! hmm

Greatnan Sat 09-Feb-13 09:53:06

I will not miss the poor lighting and sound and the fact that government pathologists act as private investigators
(And in the two parters I had to look up on line what had happened the week before!)

Can't believe it's not coming back till next year! sad

I actually liked this series much more than the last few series, sound quality was much improved, and the storylines were better. Shocked and sorry to see the end of Leo though, but quite like the new bloke.

Gave up on this series. Emilia Fox is too drippy and I don't like the new bloke.

Do miss Harry though.

shock It was great! Really enjoyed this series. Leo was so brave, walking the soldier/reluctant suicide bomber away from the others to save them and the water installation. So sad. Good storyline.

*SPOILER ALERT COMING UP*:
Resurrecting an old thread because I thought this series of Silent Witness was awful. It has been going downhill for years, but this week's episodes were the worst yet, despite having quite a good twist in the tail. How can they go on portraying Nicki (Emilia Fox) as an innocent ingenue when she's supposed to be a pathologist of many years' experience? Wide-eyed close-ups are no longer convincing. So they killed off Leo in the arms of a suicide bomber and we're supposed to care? You could see it coming when he found himself a love interest! So predictable!
With Harry and Leo gone, it's time they put Silent Witness in the grave with its numerous victims,

The other one looks like a wolf...

imjingl Wed 02-May-12 12:17:30

I'm starting to find him quite sexy. More than the other one.

Barrow Wed 02-May-12 11:18:08

I usually like Silent Witness but found the last one about ghosts and possession unwatchable, it was totally confusing and, I think, very badly made and acted. I think the character of Leo is soooo boring!!! I gave up on the last one half way through the first part! I think they need for that character to leave and either just have the other two or bring in someone who is more interesting.

imjingl Wed 02-May-12 10:34:20

I remember that one. Holby City does have a wobble now and again. grin

Greatnan Wed 02-May-12 10:29:24

Whenever serial dramas resort to the supernatural, I think they are on the slide. I remember Eliot Hope in Holby City being suicidal after his wife went to Switzerland to die, and he had a sort of 'It's a Wonderful Life' experience to show him how much he was needed.
Total rubbish!
I hope Corrie and Emmerdale never get reduced to the magical!

Anagram Wed 02-May-12 10:24:58

I caught the end of episode 2 and it was just like the end of The Exorcist - demons transferred into the priest, who then leaps to his death! (I know he wasn't a priest in Silent Witness, but...).

imjingl Wed 02-May-12 10:06:01

Yes, that was the one Greatnan. I nearly gave up as it was boring.

Greatnan Wed 02-May-12 10:01:26

jingle - was that the one about exorcism? I watched it and found it very boring and confusing, with all that jumping about with different camera shots and poor lighting.
I just like the forensic bits and I could do without the staff's private life stories.

imjingl Tue 01-May-12 23:09:29

I've just watched the second part of the latest one, on i-player.

Absolute cobblers!

I really don't like the way they are involving children in them so much. Sick.

nanaej Tue 01-May-12 21:00:57

I have given up on SW too & I really enjoyed it at the start of the series! I get annoyed when too much liberty is taken with reality ( roles of pathologists in this case) just to make it 'entertaining'.

Hattie64 Tue 01-May-12 20:31:07

After watching the two episodes this week, I will not be watching anymore. Absolutely dreadful.

imjingl Mon 30-Apr-12 18:07:25

Well they've got to make a story out of it, haven't they! It's entertainment. hmm

Greatnan Mon 30-Apr-12 15:20:15

Do we have any former police officers amongst us? I cannot believe that pathologists undertake the work of detectives. And why are they all mavericks?
I enjoy Scott and Bailey too, but again I find it hard to believe that a DC would be doing so much work on her own. In other crime series, such as Frost and Morse/Lewis, the investigating office is at least an inspector.

PRINTMISS Mon 30-Apr-12 15:13:25

But still intriguing, don't you think?

ninathenana Mon 30-Apr-12 15:06:18

I too shut my eyes during parts of last weeks episodes. Not what I would want to see on a documentry let alone an "entertainment" programme.

Last night's was seriously weird I thought. I totally agree with who ever said the team seem to be performing more of a detectives roll than what the programme is supposed to be all about.

imjingl Sat 28-Apr-12 09:52:02

missed out "being brutalised"

should preview! hmm

imjingl Sat 28-Apr-12 09:51:08

I feel really angry that the scene in the toilet block, depicting some drug pusher/pimp produced so many howls of anger, when the murder of the child seems to have gone unremarked!

I think it is more to do with people's own personal sensibilities being upset in this case. ("Oh! there was too much gore, and it's really not nice showing us things like that!". hmm

I don't give a stuff about what happens to pimps in prison.
