Shall we have a new thread for this years show? Thoroughly enjoyed Lord Sugar last night and a good start - best bit is Dara O'brien though (sorry probably spelt that wrong).

I still find entertaining but I have to admit I find the Donald Trump series better. I loved the Joan Rivers one, it's good because they are doing it for charity.

Humbert, that's a good point, and, if he isn't offering a job at the end of the show, should it still be called 'The Apprentice'?

Humbertbear Mon 07-May-12 18:42:45

I think the programme has changed now he doesn't offer them a job. He has obviously seen their business plans and takes those into account when he makes decisions about whom to fire

Yes I agree Adam is tenacious but I hate his boasting also the guy who looks a bit like Bruce Forsyth and the wrestler but cant see any girls making the cut whch is a shame.

Annobel Thu 03-May-12 16:41:02

Interesting, though, how they are obliged to have a change of character when they appear on The Apprentice - You're Fired. Even Tanvir had to try to look relaxed. And the women all have a makeover! I'm beginning to think that Adam the market trader stands a chance, depending on his business plan, because his background is so similar to Lord Sugar's.

Agree there is no stand-out favourite. I can't say that I particularly like any of them.
What I keep noticing is how many of them have blue eyes, surely there are more than in the normal population, and they are enhanced by the blue background lighting.
This week's evictee had no sense of humour at all, even on Dara's show, his smile was forced through gritted teeth! (Like this! grin)

We're all getting better at analysing as it goes along and it's becoming predictable. I love Dara O'Briain, though, and enjoy the snippets they show that have led to the loser's inevitable downfall.

merlotgran Thu 03-May-12 15:35:10

I agree, glassortwo and the tasks are now predictable as we've seen it all before.

glassortwo Thu 03-May-12 12:29:18

susie I dont think there are any characters that stand out amongst them this time, still watching but I must say I am getting a little bored with them.

susiecb Thu 03-May-12 12:25:41

I dont think we have said much about this lately - anyone still watching. they seem a dull lot to me and I cant identify anyone who stands out yet - can you? Still love Dara O'Brien though.

Imagine, rubber gloves with a sponge on one hand and a scourer on the other! Do you think they'd have a left-handed pair and a right-handed pair? Some people might like to scour with the right and sponge with the left or vice versa. Don't think they thought of that wrinkle.

gracesmum Fri 30-Mar-12 21:07:36

When we criticise them for spouting utter tosh (which they do with depressing regularity) I thik of our government's suggestion to stockpile petrol pr "pastygate" and wonder why I am surprised that they are so lacking in common sense - and before you ask "who?" I leave that up to you!

shysal Fri 30-Mar-12 20:22:39

On this week's programme I thought both products were rubbish! My GCs always used to flood the bathroom when younger, but I don't think that Splish Splash would have made any difference, and the crayons would have been useless without a hard surface behind the screen. The Eco bin did not make much sense to me, it looked like a giant cafetiere!
Nobody has impressed me yet.

I hope the girls learnt the lesson that harassment doesn't work. It certainly didn't work when Bilyana tried it on with his lordship.

goldengirl Sun 25-Mar-12 11:43:05

The 'no trousers' bit sounds interesting. Perhaps I should have watched it after all gringrin

Oldgreymare Sat 24-Mar-12 07:16:56

I love the programme but did have a cringe moment when the 'girls' who had been to the Zoo eventually found a shop where they could offload their excess merchandise. Their constant badgering ( almost at screaming pitch) of the gentle lady behind the counter was an embarassment!
I much preferred their product tho'
My impression so far is that a lot of 'the girls' are screaming banshees and many of 'the boys' are 'all mouth and no trousers'! hmm

HappyNanna Fri 23-Mar-12 15:30:50

Regarding past winners - Stella English is currently suing Lord Sugar for constructive dismissal. He wanted to end her contract last December claiming he had fulfilled his obligations to her and they couldn't afford to keep her on.
Tom has just launched his first product with his curved nail file.

Annobel Fri 23-Mar-12 12:54:38

And that dreadful Katie Hopkins is trotted out whenever anyone wants to talk about working mums. She does have very reactionary views.

nuttynorah Fri 23-Mar-12 12:49:53

I've seen quite a bit of Raef (the posh one from a while back). He seems to have been on every reality show since then!

goldengirl Fri 23-Mar-12 09:34:05

Funny how once they've won or nearly one you don't hear anything more of them. I'd love to hear how Tom is doing. I suppose he has to get out of the limelight and actually do some work!

nuttynorah Thu 22-Mar-12 20:18:56

It is more difficult to predict the winner now, because so much depends on the candidates' business proposals. Last year, Tom didn't do well in the tasks but he had more original ideas for Lord Sugar to invest in and won on that alone.

BlueSky Thu 22-Mar-12 19:35:47

Can't stand "Sir Alan" or is it "Lord Sugar" now? Fancy working for him, couldn't think of a worse fate!

glammanana Thu 22-Mar-12 17:55:24

I think I will do my envelope next week,I do it with all the shows X factor/dancing on ice etc and pick last two for the final, never got it right yet but hey-ho try again this year.

Annobel Thu 22-Mar-12 17:48:22

Too soon to tell so far. Looks as if the boys might have the edge on selling.

eGJ Thu 22-Mar-12 16:49:28

Bilyana came over better in the follow up, but the three panel weren't up to much. Dara Briain was splendid though. Any ideas who you think might win or will the hidden talent emerge later?
