I was entranced by these two programmes and some day I will definitely visit Tibet. The next check-in desk to mine at Singapore was for Katmandu.
The road trip, with the lovely Ben Fogle and Hugh Denis, had some very tense moments, although they obviously did not come to grief. Some of the bits of the roads around the mountains, and through the mud, reminded me of some of the driving I do myself in my little 4 x 4 - steep, unfenced drops at one side and sheer cliff at the other, unmade roads, splashing through rivers, meeting large logging lorries on single track roads - I love it. The only thing that annoys me on these programmes is the insistence that they are on their own with no back-up, when it is obvious that they are being filmed from a camera car or a helicopter. Do they think we are stupid? Now, I am genuinely on my own............

Wild China was great wasn't it.
I enjoyed The Long Way Round with Ewan McGregor and his mate going across the steppes on trail bikes.

I am travelling extensively in Europe for the next four years, but when I move to New Zealand I plan to visit China, Tibet, Cambodia and Viewnam.
There is so much to see in the world, I can never understand people who go to the same place year after year.
