Oh, I missed that one super. When is it on?

supernana Thu 08-Mar-12 13:00:08

Carol please watch next Monday's episode BBC4 9.00 if at all possible. Based on Douglas Adams's novels about a self-styled holistic detective who specialises in discovering improbable solutions to baffling mysteries. Very funny!

Will do - thanks super x

Ah! Now I realise why it's so funny - it's the author of Hitchhiker's Guide! Fab!

It took me a little while to get it but I loved it and its nice to have something a bit off the wall!

I loved the books (Long Dark Teatime of the Soul) etc, and loved Douglas Adams writing in general.

For a bit of sillyness, may I also recommend the books he co-wrote with John Lloyd, "The Meaning of Liff" and "The Deeper Meaning of Liff". Sort of a dictionary format, but totally unlike the OED!!!!

So glad you all loved this. I was desperately disappointed. I love Stephen Mangan and was really looking forward to it, but gave up after about 20 minutes. Oh well, have never read Douglas Adams, so guess it is just not for me. Roll on the next series of Episodes.[ sad]

Episode two, 'though zany and well acted, didn't have me laughing out loud as did episode one.

I thought ep. one was a little disappointing, but two and three were much better.

Stephen Mangan is, in my opinion, one of our best comic actors. His timing is impeccable. His partnership with TamsinGreig in Episodes - and in Green Wing - is potentially a classic. Dirk Gently is promising. I enjoyed the books and love the late and deeply lamented Douglas Adams.
