Did anyone else watch this new Danish political drama on Saturday on BBC 4. Nice to see those two lovely young male detectives from The Killing 1 and 2 (yes I know one of them had killed loads of people in very nasty fashion, but I am sure he was a nice boy really.)
I thought it was brilliant - I am hooked!

It's repeated on Tuesday so I'll watch it then.

I watched it last night and because I was also on GN, I didn't manage to pick up the story properly. I'm going to watch it again on iPlayer while DH watches yet another repeat of something else. From what I did see of it, there was a really good story-line.

I went to bed early but heard the music from it downstairs [the S.O. was watching it]. I didn't see the first episode of Borgen when it was on last time so never quite got into it. I do hope it's repeated tomorrow; the mid week repeats that are on for one hour are not so tiring. I can't wait for the The Bridge when it restarts in the autumn.

I love these Danish productions. Crimson, I'm like you I have found myself straining my eyes trying to follow the sub titles on the television. However, yesterday I watched Borgen live on my PC and found the sub titles much easier to follow up close. Really loved the final Killing, hope they re think and make another one, as everything was left up in the air. I love the theme music, I've heard it can be downloaded as a ring tone for mobiles, anyone done that?

Have just realised that preceding comments were Borgen 1 - I wondered how I could have missed them today. I really enjoyed last night's episodes. I could tell the slimy one was a bad'un though and glad he got his just deserts. Birgitte is toughening up at last!

Mamie Sun 06-Jan-13 15:42:20

Right. Bumping this for Series 2. What did people think? I really enjoyed it and was glad to see a thoughtful look at issues around troops in Afghanistan. I laughed out loud when the wayward politician got kicked upstairs to Brussels in the second one. I am so impressed by Birgitte's English and French accents.

I found the subtitles difficult to read. Am I right in thinking that, although there is a continuing storyline, each episode has a story of it's own?

What a wonderful Prime Minister she is,this is such a superb series but.....I watch this with my husband, who constantly fidgets.Last night,as usual the dog was on the sofa,I mentioned he seemed to be enjoying the programme, but said the old man,he can't read the subtitles, so he proceeded to tell the dog what was being said, word for word!!! for nearly 20 minutes. Fortunately they disappeared to bed at 10pm leaving me alone to watch the second episode.

Superb! A Saturday night treat. smile

gracesmum Mon 16-Jan-12 11:41:22

My day was made when one of the characters exclaimed "Troels!!" (can't do the Danish symbols) - it was just like The Killing again.
Loving it!

I really enjoyed Saturday's Borgen, getting more and more hooked, I never thought I would be so fascinated by a political drama. It looks like it is a universal truth that you just can't come in to power and do everything you promised, it is all about compromise and doing deals. And of course, the dreaded spin doctors who seem to pull all the strings.I love the faces, they are believable people, not all slick and glamorous.

silversurfergran Thu 12-Jan-12 17:19:59

Definitely hooked on this one, so nice to see an actress portraying a real woman with family and size problems (although she looked great to me) and yet becoming a prime minister - a much nicer character than The Iron Lady.
After the 2 series of Killing I'm well impressed with Danish TV.

GoldenGran Thu 12-Jan-12 12:03:52

But not my language! blush

GoldenGran Thu 12-Jan-12 11:53:11

I swear I can understand half of it.! The lsngusge I mean.

MaggieP Thu 12-Jan-12 10:55:18

Me too! So glad to carry on with Danish thrillers after all we almost recognise the Danish sounds now.....
After The Killing , I thought nothing would match up for winter viewing until this started and roll on Series three of The Killing too.
Maybe Sarah Lund will return with a new man and a jersey!

supernana Wed 11-Jan-12 12:47:42

Brilliant! Dare not nod off for a quick shut-eyefor fear of losing the plot. The leading lady is superb. Well and truly hooked.

GoldenGran Tue 10-Jan-12 21:43:21

How about I player blush

GoldenGran Tue 10-Jan-12 21:42:50

Have just watched it on I tunes --brilliant, I'm hooked.

Hattie64 Tue 10-Jan-12 20:03:00

I thought it was brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed it. It is the same production team who made The Kiling. The lead female role is such a pleasant, intelligent woman with a loving family, which makes a change!

Mamie Mon 09-Jan-12 13:53:15

Yes, I think Wednesday at 1am!

crimson Mon 09-Jan-12 13:31:26

I was out on Saturdy night and missed it. Is it repeated later in the week?

grannyactivist Mon 09-Jan-12 13:21:46

Am so looking forward to watching this. My husband very, very rarely sits and watches a TV programme (on iPlayer - we have no TV), but after Sophie Lund working her magic in The Killing we're both planning to catch up with this series. I really enjoy watching some of the good European films and series that are around at the moment.

Mamie Mon 09-Jan-12 11:10:43

No knitwear, but a nice touch when the lead character said on TV that she was too fat to get into the outfit that the spin doctor wanted her to wear.

GoldenGran Mon 09-Jan-12 10:11:26

I have missed it, will try and download it and watch it.I don't think, according to the critics in the newspapers, there was any noticeable knitwear.

gracesmum Mon 09-Jan-12 09:56:29

Any knitwear of note? grin
