I'm anticipating howls of protest but I love, love, love, Strictly Come Dancing.
So this thread is for all things Strictly. Can't wait!!!!

em Fri 30-Sept-11 00:05:22

jogginggirl on behalf of Scottish grans I take it upon myself to forgive you (but we claim the right to gloat if she wins!) I realise that's not very likely but I'm all for a bit of grandmotherly solidarity!

Jacey Fri 30-Sept-11 09:32:00

Television is set up ... pure entertainment ...no violence or bad language ...probably some bad jokes and ascerbic comments ...can't wait.

Still have open mind about contestants ...let's hope it isn't as staged/false as 'taster' show ...am also looking forward to reading all the comments here tomorrow!!

Sit back and enjoy wine

susiecb Fri 30-Sept-11 09:52:38

Looking forward to it very much after a hard day of golfsmile Anita Dobson has my advance vote - granny from London like mesmile cant wait to see Edwina fall on her manifesto!

Annobel Fri 30-Sept-11 09:54:38

Echo all that, Jacey. I think a wee glass of sauvignon blanc may be called for wine. I might be drowning my sorrows tomorrow - see world cup thread.

Butternut Fri 30-Sept-11 09:58:27

Notsogrand - I have now officially stepped away from the Strictly Thread! I could see I was seriously outnumbered. ;-)....!
I could feel the anticipation & enjoyment of watching Strictly positively leaping from the page -so I would hate to throw in any negative influences of such a loved programme.
Enjoy!!
:-)

Notsogrand Fri 30-Sept-11 10:27:01

So could we say then Butternut that your Strictly views have been Squashed? Sorry. Terrible pun. Forgive me. grin

PS, I like your soup.

Butternut Fri 30-Sept-11 10:51:05

Yep - a terrible pun Notsogrand - but very funny nevertheless :-)) !

kittylester Fri 30-Sept-11 11:02:52

Did anyone else see Robbie Savage on Breakfast and were you also surprised at how diffident he seemed -or was it a bluff?

Annobel Fri 30-Sept-11 11:27:23

Not really surprised, kittylester because no matter how cocky they are on the field of play, the dance floor is a very different matter. We shall soon see! How about an emoticon for feverish anticipation?

Notsogrand Fri 30-Sept-11 12:18:40

Annobel, go onto YouTube and enter 'Austin & Erin Paso' if you want to be really feverish and anticipatory. grin

Annobel Fri 30-Sept-11 13:13:15

Oh notso, what are you trying to do to my blood pressure? grin

Notsogrand Fri 30-Sept-11 14:43:38

Is it too early to have a wine spritzer, to start getting in the mood for tonight?

aswas Fri 30-Sept-11 14:57:40

I think Lulu looks very poser-ish on the trailer. She might be alright though. I'll bet she will take it really seriously. grin

Annobel Fri 30-Sept-11 15:02:29

If it'll calm you down*notso*, by all means, have your spritzer, even if it is a virtual one wine. I think I will stick to the redbush for the moment, taken in the garden if I can bear to sit out in my jungle. brew. Got the tonic chilling in the fridge for later.
Tomorrow I may need a wee dram during the rugby, even more so after it, but wait, that's at breakfast time and even earlier now that the clocks have changed in New Zealand. What the ! Cheers!

Notsogrand Fri 30-Sept-11 15:27:38

I think I'll have a real one Annobel. The sun will be over the yardarm somewhere in the world. wink

We`ve been asked to have 2 of our grandsons over to sleep on Saturday night. They`re known to always be bickering, but they`ll get short shrift if they interfere with my Strictly viewing!

Notsogrand Fri 30-Sept-11 16:39:55

My 2 grandsons (3 and 5) are coming for a sleepover tomorrow too number. They should be well settled before Strictly starts. If not, they'll be on the sofa under a tightly tucked blanket and with a bowl of sweets. With Sky+ as back up!

nannysgetpaid Fri 30-Sept-11 16:45:38

Every year I get annoyed when the good dancers go out and say I won't watch again and every year I do. Forgot about the Rugby (thanks Annobel for the reminder.) Going to have a large glass of wine now now just because I can. grin

numberplease Fri 30-Sept-11 17:15:20

Notsogrand, the 2 sleeping tomorrow night are 14 and 11, not so easily controlled or persuaded. We have a spare PS3 game in their bedroom, but they won`t play the games they can play two at a time, they`d rather argue about who`s turn it is. There`s also a spare laptop down here, but they either both want the laptop or both want the PS3. Usually ends up with grandad tearing out what little hair he has left!

Notsogrand Fri 30-Sept-11 18:23:31

14 and 11....raging hormones -v- won't be left out. No, a bowl of sweets won't sort it.
Could they bring a PS3 and a laptop from home, so they can both do the same thing?
Can you bribe them with anything? For example, if they argue, the electricity will be disconnected from the sockets running their things and they'll have to do homework. By candlelight. With gruel for supper. And wash their own pants.
Or something similar?

Notsogrand Fri 30-Sept-11 18:27:27

Mmmm. That's not a bribe though, more of a threat. Never mind, whatever works. wink

Annobel Fri 30-Sept-11 18:46:00

Have they got those hand-held things? Nintendo something or other? You could tell them to bring something with them to amuse them. hmm

em Fri 30-Sept-11 19:53:30

Notso my GS is too little for your wonderful threats but I so want to store them away until I can use them!! I see a new interest emerging - Lulu (representing Scotland) V Anita (London, so representing England) or have I got confused with the rugby, Annobel?

Annobel Fri 30-Sept-11 20:29:48

Perhaps you are, em, though there's no rugby star in Strictly this year. They've been pretty good in the past. Can't forget Matt Dawson in pink lycra or Austin Healey's Paso. And what about Kenny Logan doing the Paso in a skimpy kilt! Oh yes, there's quite a crossover between rugby and Strictly. grin

em Fri 30-Sept-11 20:52:11

Yes - not seriously into sport but thought most of the sportsmen did well on the dancefloor - better than the women. Have several rugby-mad men in the family and a daughter too. Will keep a friendly eye on the World Cup but won't get too worked up.
