I'm anticipating howls of protest but I love, love, love, Strictly Come Dancing.
So this thread is for all things Strictly. Can't wait!!!!

kittylester Sun 04-Dec-11 19:59:37

At the risk of repeating myself - I LOVE Harry wink

Annobel Sun 04-Dec-11 20:07:56

Good result tonight. It's hard to pick a winner, but I, too, am still backing Harry. It must be a sign of old age when instead of saying I fancy so-and-so, I think how proud his mother (and grandmother!) must be.

nanachrissy Sun 04-Dec-11 20:43:00

I'm just glad to see the last of Robbie, I really can't take to him at all.

gracesmum Sun 04-Dec-11 21:11:48

I think Robbie made terrific progress especially when you think of his early performances, but it was a fair result - now though we are down to real dancers -is it going to be exciting? or as Craig R-H said - Boring because everybody is so good!

Jacey Sun 04-Dec-11 21:19:09

Yes!! brilliant result ...smile

Did I hear them say that it was two dances next week and two to leave??

numberplease Sun 04-Dec-11 21:27:37

Yes, Jacey, you did hear it right, there are always 3 couples on the final programme.
I think it was the correct result tonight, Robbie is nowhere near the standard of the other celebrities. I`d like to see Harry or Jason win, with my main money being on Harry.
And I too was disappointed with Alfie Bow, he`s so much better than James Bond themes, I was hoping for something from Les Miserables.

dontcallmegramps Mon 05-Dec-11 11:00:10

Absolutely great result and fair... Right couple went out

There was something (Len?) said about kristina's choreography being so very good... and have often thought that she was very good at that bit of the comp...
I know it seems impossible not to want to tinker with the SCD format...

I think it would be good to borrow from Formula 1 Motor racing (where you have the driver's championship AND a parallel constructor's championship where Mcclaren/ Ferrari/RB Renault etc compete to be the best engineers and build the best car)*

If you had a Choreography award which the judges could chose and give to the professional dancer does the best work - this would recognise Flavia for example who did really clever stuff making a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
(Not to detract from Russell Grant's undoubted charisma...)

* does that win an award for surreal unlikely connections?

Annobel Sat 10-Dec-11 20:23:08

Jason's Argentine tango almost brought tears to my eyes. the choreography ws stunning with its sudden change of mood and pace. And what a performance from Chelsee! Some of Craig's other scores looked a bit mean, until you saw just what he was prepared to give a 10 for. A great show tonight. I think Alex and Holly will lose out - but who knows!

Grannylin Sat 10-Dec-11 20:29:44

Beat me to it Annobel!Thought Jason was the stunner tonight and agree about Alex and Holly.

gracesmum Sat 10-Dec-11 20:32:31

That would be the right decision, but you never know how the public will vote (I, for instance, never have, but it doesn't stop me being an expert!!) I am very torn between Harry and Chelsee. I know Jason is good, but I still feel as a star of musicals etc he started at an advantage. It's good fun though and guarantees a quiet night in fornt of the TV!

dontcallmegramps Sat 10-Dec-11 21:46:29

I really just don't know how Saturday nights will be without it! Wonderful tonight...

Have said previously in this thread how in this time of size zero and girls with eating problems etc etc
SCD is a great example of healthy fit, genuinely talented, attractive women

but I will say it again! Look at Chelsee..
She IS short, ermmm.. a bit plump... err no other way of saying it but....
big boobs and bum ...
even a bit of a double chin....

BUT SHE IS FAB-U-LOUS!!!!
she is successful sexy just great

no she will never do catwalk...
she will NEVER be Victoria Beckham stick thin...
But she is great!!!!
Superb role model....

numberplease Sat 10-Dec-11 22:34:45

Brilliant show tonight. I also think that it will be Alex and Holly leaving this week, and we have Harry down as the ultimate winner, but who knows? Anything could happen with the viewers vote. The trouble is, my husband decides early on in the series who he likes best and wants to win, then if they don`t win he goes off on one, so I`m really hoping and praying that this time he`s proved right, for the sake of a bit of peace!

kittylester Sun 11-Dec-11 10:14:29

Did I mention that I LOVE Harry wink

dontcallmegramps Sun 11-Dec-11 12:06:03

I "like" Kristina and Aliona...
Have I mentioned that?

nanachrissy Sun 11-Dec-11 12:06:57

I thought Holly looked lazy next to Artem last night. She really is just too laid back, such a shame, as I think she is also a role model for a healthy looking figure, and fabulous long legs!
I thought Chelsee(or however it's spelled) looked slightly uncomfortable doing the tango, but she is a brilliant dancer. I love Alex, she has done so well, but I think Harry will win.

riclorian Sun 11-Dec-11 13:38:21

I totally agree that there should be a parallel competition for the choreography . This, after all is the make or break of the routine . On the subject of Jason's tango last night I don't recall seeing any flicks from him !! as regard to giving 10's these should surely only be given for perfection , so I feel Craig is right to restrict them . I wouldn't like to choose between Chelsee and Harry they are both so good .The standards have certainly been raised this year !!

dontcallmegramps Sun 11-Dec-11 14:46:25

Another "tweak" to the format...

When C R-H gives a 10 you always KNOW a perfect score in on the way.

I would switch the judges' seats round

so it goes Bruno Aleesha Len and finally Craig , so Craig gives his score last...
It would add a tiny extra thrill...

jogginggirl Sun 11-Dec-11 19:27:20

Did Alesha just admit to hair extensions..............?shock

dontcallmegramps Sun 11-Dec-11 19:54:51

Right result ...

Nooo joggingirl all the girls on SCD have hair that grows very very fast

I don't think hair extensions are something you have to conceal or deny -not like " oh no I have not had a facelift"

Annobel Sun 11-Dec-11 20:31:49

Hair extensions are like false eyelashes, nobody bothers to conceal the fact that they wear them. All kinds of fakery are accepted nowadays and I would be very surprised if Alesha didn't wear them - same goes for the X-factor judges.

jogginggirl Sun 11-Dec-11 20:55:21

I know lots of "celebs" wear hair extensions.............but, for some reason I always thought Alesha's hair was all her own.............how gullible can a sexagenarian be...............?hmm

gracesmum Sun 11-Dec-11 21:29:14

But at least you're a sexy genariangrin (or does that comment belong on the malapropisms thread?)

jogginggirl Sun 11-Dec-11 22:08:19

Nice one gracesmum grin - an excellent example of a malapropism

I have to confess to 'looking up' malapropism and then remembered years ago a friend describing my skirt as voluptuous when what she really meant was voluminous - am I on the right track to understanding a malapropism ..............?confused

Annobel Sun 11-Dec-11 22:19:56

Must be tired, gracesmum. I read that as 'sexy geranium'.
And yes, jogging, that's a good malapropism.

Granny23 Sat 17-Dec-11 23:03:39

Woo Hoo, Harry won! I am so pleased, I would not have minded too much if Chelsee had won it but remain disgusted with Jason - still dancing with his mouth gaping open, although I have warned him about it every week.
