I'm anticipating howls of protest but I love, love, love, Strictly Come Dancing.
So this thread is for all things Strictly. Can't wait!!!!

Oooooh!!

Jacey Wed 09-Nov-11 16:45:18

Has anyone else noticed there seems to be an on-going competition between the the female professionals on ITT?
1. to see who can wear the highest heels?? (I think it was Karen Harding last night)
and
2. to see who can show the longest legs ...given high heels/short skirt???? (we probably need dcmg and his slow-mo for this one!!)

Oh ...dcmg ...while rehearsing on Saturday ...that's why had to change their routine ...but accident not recorded???

dontcallmegramps Wed 09-Nov-11 17:00:37

Jacey!!!! really! anyone would think that I watch SCD for things other than the FAB - UL - LOUS dancing!

I bet the video of the accident exists somewhere on facetube or youbook and probably shows KT putting vaseline on Artem's shoes...

Jacey Wed 09-Nov-11 17:49:52

dcmg grin

I see that the divine Nancy is going on the Strictly tour!

Jacey Thu 10-Nov-11 20:27:13

That's sad numberplease ...as is the fact that Artem has been ruled out this weekend!

Annobel Sat 12-Nov-11 20:46:56

Didn't Brendan look happier this week! Russell getting crazier every week and I am still backing Harry to win!

Oldgreymare Sun 13-Nov-11 00:16:13

Happier AND more relaxed! I agree Annobel Harry is rather lovely, Russell is a star, but I did vote for Robbie this week as I really do want him to go to Wembley. Did he ever get there as a footballer? ( I'm not too mad about football, sadly, so I really don't know!)blush

numberplease Sun 13-Nov-11 00:16:53

IMO, Harry, Anita and Alex were the best tonight. Audley, bless `im, was the worst, but he`s never been a latin man, has he? I thought that Brendan did a good job as Artem`s replacement, hope Artem`s better for next week.

Jacey Sun 13-Nov-11 17:23:42

If nothing else makes you laugh today ...then I hope this does ...

She's absolutely unbelievable grin

Hattie64 Sun 13-Nov-11 19:19:15

Tony Blair was on the Andrew Marr show this morning, he never mentioned his affair with Nancy???

Annobel Sun 13-Nov-11 20:23:39

Sad about Audley, but if he hadn't gone, someone much better would have had to go. Or Russell and that isn't going to happen any time soon!

Gagagran Sun 13-Nov-11 20:56:08

Absolutely loved Erin and Anton's waltz to Andre Rieu's music. Really magical and beautiful dancing and I could watch them dance like this - Fred and Ginge style- all night!

numberplease Sun 13-Nov-11 22:01:47

The right one went tonight, but I couldn`t believe my ears when the other one in the bottom 2 was Anita! I love watching Russell, but he really should have been the other one.
Anton and Erin`s dancing was beautiful, as was the music from Andre Rieu`s orchestra.

carboncareful Sun 13-Nov-11 22:02:23

Was anyone else appalled at that dance Christina did tonight? Was it supposed to be about what I can only describe as "rough sex"? Being thrown about and grovelling etc. I was appalled, not from a prudish point of view, but as a feminist I thought it demeaning to women. As such it could come be seen as pornographic according to the criteria that distinguishes erotica from pornography.

Jacey Sun 13-Nov-11 22:24:41

Did anyone else think that Len was pre-occupied? ...not particularly focused and quite grumpy?? he doesn't usually swear either hmm

grandmaagain Sun 13-Nov-11 23:43:05

I think the constant travelling is getting too much for Len, backwards and forwards over the atlantic can't be much fun.
The right one went out tonight and I thought Audley was very gracious in defeat. Loved Anton and Erin's dance, my DH has bought me tickets to their new show as a christmas present can't wait and it is not until March smile

shysal Mon 14-Nov-11 09:19:30

carboncareful I just admired the athleticism of the dancers, was not offended by it.
jacey I too thought Len was very bad tempered, especially with his fellow judges, hope he will recover his usual humour by next week.
Audley is lovely, but it was his time. I don't understand how Russell is still in, I find him way over the top! it will be a shame if the good dancers are voted out before he is.

Oldgreymare Mon 14-Nov-11 10:34:39

* Carboncareful* I agree! I'm not easily shocked, but I thought that Christina's performance was a little OTT. Shame, as her choreography for Jason is usually very good. She is a little minx tho!shock

Jacey Mon 14-Nov-11 12:33:07

Did anyone else hear Anita on Women's Hour this morning?

Thought she came over really well ...obviously loving it, but caring of others in the competition.

dontcallmegramps Mon 14-Nov-11 14:00:37

This where it starts to get a bit serious because everyone left in the competition now Audley has gone could be a winner on the strength of the dancing - everyone that is except Russell Grant... and when, if people start going out and he stays in ...
Audley showed true sportsmanship I loved the way you could hear him say to Anita " if it had been you I would have withdrawn"

There was nothing pornographic about Kristina's dance - really! It was great!
I think that in a world where girls and young women are bombarded with images and aspirations for " celebrity" eg many aspire only to be a WAG,
and are bombarded with ideal body images ie "skinny"
the SCD professional women are superb role models
- they achieve nothing without true talent ( they have nowhere to hide on the dancefloor unlike like many singers who rely on technology and the talent of others)
-and VERY hard work ( sucess is not handed them on a plate)
-and they have healthy athletic bodies while not being a "freak".
Would much rather a daughter wanted to be Kristina Rhianoff than to be Colleen Rooney.

Yes what was Len's problem? I mean - I can be a grumpy git I pride myself on that... But true grumpiness should be based on reason it's not an end in itself grin

Annobel Mon 14-Nov-11 14:49:39

Len's critique of Harry's Argentine tango was a bit off beam. I thought it was supposed to be mean and moody which Harry's interpretation certainly was. Don't know what Len meant by saying it should be more passionate. confused

numberplease Mon 14-Nov-11 15:15:07

We loved Kristina and Robin`s dance, it reminded me very much of the French Apache dancing that we haven`t seen on TV for years. I wonder if she misses her old dancing partner, Brian Fortuna, he of the lovely bum?

Jacey Mon 14-Nov-11 16:49:09

numberplease shock

Actually ...I think ...and suspect there are others thinking the same ...but promise not to tell anyone hmm ... that len wasn't away on holiday ...he get's paid too much per episode for that ... that yes, he was in another country for personal reasons ...[an op springs to mind] ...which is why he was grumpy ...but, let's respect his privacy! confused

Annobel Mon 14-Nov-11 17:22:37

Oooh Jacey - that's how rumours start. Whatever else it was, it certainly wasn't botox or any other facial 'improvement'! wink
