I'm anticipating howls of protest but I love, love, love, Strictly Come Dancing.
So this thread is for all things Strictly. Can't wait!!!!

CAGSY I think losing the dance off was a bad move.
The results show now seems a bit artificial without it.
I think it would be good if they brought it back but instead of the judges making a choice, let the live audience vote - ie the people who are actually in the studio, there on the night and who have seen the dancing "in the flesh" so to speak.
It's easy lots of programmes use the technology with buttons linked to a computer which people select when asked.
It's still the public not the judges choosing and would add real live drama.

Not a bad idea, don'tcall I wonder how we can influence the powers that be at the Beeb? Maybe the Strictly Facebook page.

I used to enjoy this show but like all the others The Apprentice, X-Factor [never been a fan] all the cookery shows, Big Brother, Jungle thingy and so on have all been done to death. The same shows over and over again. I love Bake-off but is that going to become tiresome?

shysal Tue 01-Nov-11 09:51:08

Surprisingly my grandsons loved the Junior Bake-off on CBBC yesterday. They do like baking, but usually watch very 'boyish' TV.

Did anyone see 'The Graham Norton show' At long last someone asked her 'so what exactly is it that you do, Nancy? And as per usual, it went right over her head: hilairious.
On Bruce Forsyth: Until i joined this site i thought i was the only person in the Uk who couldn't stand the man. Now i know i am not alone.

dontcallmegramps Wed 02-Nov-11 08:32:23

Petra the enigma that is Bruce Forsyth! I can't stand him either

Why do they keep him in the show?
I think we have to think back to when SCD started...

some people at the BBC might have said
" you what? a ballroom dancing contest? early evening on Saturday prime time BBC1? Are you mad? It won't work!"

Thing is for 30 years Forsyth had delivered hit shows in that 6pm - 8pm Saturday night slot for both BBC and ITV.

Back when SCD started ( and seemed like a risk) someone at the BBC would have said

"get Forsyth on the show he's a safe pair of hands who will deliver an audience in that time slot - he will get people to watch this crazy idea and give it a chance"

Now though, SCD is BIGGER than Bruce and he doesn't add to it.

I think Brucie is one of those entertainers like Eric Morcambe or Tommy Cooper - always "performing " ,addicted to it, who will probably, like Morecambe and Cooper, drop dead on stage.

HildaW Wed 02-Nov-11 09:53:18

Dont callme.......oh dear, please dont put Darling Eric Morcambe into same category as daft old Bruce!

Annobel Wed 02-Nov-11 10:53:17

I have just about tolerated Bruce since the show started, but this year he is just beyond tolerance. Everything he says is so obviously scripted to a formula that nobody can possibly believe he is spontaneous any more. Sorry, Brucie, you need to go and enjoy yourself on the golf course - and bask in the glory of your knighthood!
And his scriptwriters ought to retire as well, the sooner the better.

Carol Wed 02-Nov-11 10:56:23

HildaW yes, Eric Morcambe was priceless - I can imagine him taking the mickey out of Brucie on SCD if he was still around.

dontcallmegramps Wed 02-Nov-11 13:20:43

Oh I agree that Morecambe is is different league to Bruce Forsyth what I meant was that Eric Morecambe and Tommy Cooper were by all accounts NEVER "off", they were always performing, and could not stop, would never pass up the chance to be in front of an audience - and I think Bruce Forsyth is the same in THAT way
he will never say "that's enough"

grandmaagain Wed 02-Nov-11 16:45:38

(ducks and runs) LONG LIVE BRUCIE LONG MAY HE REIGN ON STRICTLY, LOVE HIM TO BITS [GRIN]

Annobel Wed 02-Nov-11 16:58:01

grandmaagain, I have a dreadful feeling you will get your wish.hmm

numberplease Wed 02-Nov-11 17:39:06

Brucie is great! I`ve loved him since I fisrst saw yim in a seaside show in 1956, and for me he can do no wrong!

grandmaagain Wed 02-Nov-11 19:41:41

you and me numberplease we won't let Brucie down grin

dontcallmegramps Thu 03-Nov-11 07:42:50

Here's a question for the Brucie fans.... You have a choice

Lose Bruce OR.... lose Len Goodman from the show?

(or Craig/Bruno)

ONE of them has to go.

The show would be more damaged -it would be less entertaining- by the loss of Len, Craig or Bruno than it would by losing Bruce.

nanachrissy Thu 03-Nov-11 09:19:06

I think they could lose Bruce, Tess, and Claudia as they all seem to be turning into caricatures of themselves. Len is brilliant and I love Craig, he is such a pantomime dame but tells it like it is, so well. grin I wish the BBC would stop trying to turn it into the X Factor.

Annobel Thu 03-Nov-11 09:35:12

Good point, nanachrissy, I've been getting increasingly irritated by Claudia in particular in recent years. I do like Zoe, but she seems to by trying too hard to be like Claudia and is aping her mannerisms. How does either of them walk in those heels? confused

dontcallmegramps Thu 03-Nov-11 10:31:05

agreed annobel Claudia is irritating and much prefer Zoe
Think ZB actually really LOVES SCD
Think CW PRETENDS to love it and takes the money

When production of takes two moved north to Salford CW couldn't be ars--
BOTHERED to travel.

Oh yes message to be passed on from Doting Grandma....*
" you call those heels darlings? Please! it's easy -watch me as I walk"!

*5ft 1in bare feet 5ft 6in in her average shoe grin

Jacey Thu 03-Nov-11 11:56:15

Thought CW wasn't doing ITT as recently had baby ???confused ...but actually prefer Zoe ...so hope they keep her.

Hattie64 Fri 04-Nov-11 19:50:33

Here here, I agree about Zoe, also she has experience appearing on SDC. I feel she is far more sincere than Claudia was. Her questioning seems more intelligent than Claudia.
I also dislike Bruce, have done from the first series. Strangely though, this series, I seem to have got used to him, hate the dreadful jokes, but don't waste my energies shouting at the screen.
Unfortunately like a lot of programmes, I am slightly getting tired of it all, still watch and enjoy, but for the first time, have no favourite, and am really not bothered who wins. I am also tired of Takes Two, and frequently don't bother to watch anymore.

jogginggirl Sat 05-Nov-11 19:19:12

I'm absolutely loving Strictly tonight .....gringrin

jingle Sat 05-Nov-11 19:56:58

Did you see my Hero?! Haaaa...... lovely man! grin grin grin grin

gracesmum Sat 05-Nov-11 20:10:53

At least Chelsee kept all her body parts in and Robbie retained a vestige of dignity. I normally can't stand Anita , but really liked her tonight. Anybody share my opinion?

Jacey Sat 05-Nov-11 20:43:55

yes gracesmum

Think the wheat and chaff are beginning to separate grin ...but there are several vunerable couples tonight.

Wasn't Artem a trooper!! Think he, Robin and Pasha are really good choreographers smile
