Kindle v ipad for long trip?

I’d take both! iPad for keeping contact with people and Kindle just for reading. I do have the Kindle app on my phone and iPad but I find the lure of other websites too tempting.

I bought a Kindle Fire in 2016 and still take it on holiday. It does everything and is cheaper than an iPad. I leave the IPad home!

It’s a Paperwhite, so it’s backlit for reading at night. It’s not a fancy one that you can do other things with, so fairly basic. My Dh had a very basic one and even that was good. Ime, they last for years. I’ve only ever had two, since not long after they were available.

I have both but the iPad wins as I rarely use the Kindle as I much prefare iPad.

I have a Kindle Fire, which is a bit like a mini simplified ipad.
Also a Kindle Paperwhite.
The Kindle Fire has a reader on it so you can read all your Kindle books but terrible glare in the sun and almost unreadable for me.
My Kindle paperwhite is ideal for all my books, I must have at least 500 books on there. No glare, easy to adjust size, brightness etc
Had both more than 15 years now. The Paperwhite still from when they'd just come out. Brilliant!

Kindle every time for me. It’s smaller than my iPad, backlit for night reading and slips into my cross body bag effortlessly. Smartphone is used for keeping in touch with family and taking photos so there’s absolutely no need for anything else IMO.

I also have a Kindle Fire tablet which I use daily (am writing this on it) but as someone said above it is not good for reading outside as the glare is terrible, so I also have a Kindle reader which is ideal for holidays.

I decided not to go for an iPad and got the Fire instead, which was a lot cheaper; have had the current one for about 5 years. Does internet, emails, faceBook, and obviously Gransnet, and I always take it on holiday

My Kindle paperwhite is my most important possession. It's absolutely only for reading. I use my mobile phone for all internet activities. I love to load up my kindle with tempting books before a holiday and have a special pouch in my handbag for it.
