The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to Spain, including the Balearic Islands but excluding the Canary Islands, based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks.

Entry restrictions and requirements continue to apply for travel to Spain and only those who are legally resident or who are travelling for essential reasons will be allowed to enter. Entry for tourism purposes is not currently permitted.

Apparently today Spain has removed the requirement of a negative PCR test on arrival. My wife is travelling back to the Canary Islands next week as she has residency and we have a property there. Sadly I can’t accompany her as I didn’t want residency. She booked a PCR test as the different areas have different requirements for entry.
Who knows when we will find ourselves in the same country again.
Hopefully everything will open up again and we can get back to some kind of normality with travelling.

I wondered that when Brittany Ferries announced sailings (no foot passengers) to Porto. Could tourists drive to Spain and on to France? The trouble is, a foreign umber plate is especially identifiable.

It seems Spain is very happy to welcome UK tourists, the Spanish Government must be desperate to try and save their tourism industry. So far you will have to do the tests and isolate on your return, you will just have to weigh up if this is bearable in exvhange for a holiday. I do expect the tests and quarantine requirements to be relaxed bit by bit as the weeks go by.

Last week a family were complaining about the £4,000 it had cost them so far trying to organise a trip to Spain to scatter Grandad's ashes. Grandad died in 2019, shortly after DH. I had always planned to scatter his ashes in Italy but I don't see us being able to do it before next year and I'm certainly not rushing around trying to organise anything at the moment.

Wow. do they really want the Delta/Indian variant to come to Spain! I do hope they don't regret it very bitterly later.

If I lived in a tourist spot in Spain, I'd be absolutely furious and very worried.

Spain already has community transmission of the Delta variant. They closed down to travellers from India even later than we did. They are also concerned about a new strain that originated in Columbia. 17 people who travelled from Colombia into Madrid airport have been confirmed to be positive.
