100% cotton knickers that don't show a VPL

I am waiting to see a dermatologist about a skin condition I have developed on my bra line and round my waist and groin area, in other words the outline of my underwear. My doctor is unable to find a cause and treatment up to now has been unsuccessful. Can anyone suggest pure cotton underwear (not just cotton rich) in order to eliminate allergic reaction to man made fibers? I can't bear to see a VPL so would prefer 'shorts' style pants with the minimum of elastic.
This has gone on for 3 months now and the itching is driving me mad. I have even considered wearing mens boxers!

How about these? Silk is so nice next to the skin and these don't have any elastic that touches the skin? Quite expensive at £30 but if they bring relief they would be worth it?

You don’t have to wear men’s boxers …they sell very nice women’s boxers ….my daughter and I swear by them .

I am not willing to iron underwear! Imagine what unironed silk would look like - no way!

I have had this problem in the past and found I am allergic to rubber. Was not discovered until I had allergy tests though.

I use bamboo pants. Really comfortable, natural product, about the same price as Sloggies. Bamboo socks in winter as well.

Have you been tested for Lichen sclerosus Mazgg, not many people are aware of the condition but it does sound like it.
Sadly a lot of medical professionals haven’t hear of it either. x

Not all elastic (in many garments for stretch purposes) is the same. Many people are allergic to LATEX. Check garment labels for latex content. (bras, undies, chemises…)

I used to work in a hospital. One of the first questions they ask when you check in…”are you allergic to latex?”

Worth looking into!

I’ve had the same problem for years and always wear John Lewis cotton knickers. They do packs of 4 or 5 for about £10. They come in either bikini or shorts style and are great value.

Try Anita Jana Comfort soft bra.
I use these as I need cotton and can't stand wired bras (used to when I was younger).
I order mine online. There are several places to get them from including Amazon.
Worth a try, although they're not cheap!

There is a company called “Cotton Comfort”. I think they will have all that you want. Until then warm hairdryer. No talc. If it might be fungal try athlete’s foot powder. Dust off any excess.

I use soap nuts , can't use normal stuff. Take a look at M&S Flexifit different type of waist and leg
I get a rash from elastic in normal knickers , goats milk soap to wash my bits pat dry or use hairdryer

I agree with the hairdryer method after washing (I have this problem under and between the boobs). I also use Childs Farm moisturiser for sensative skin after drying. It really does work very well for me.
Not expensive, well worth a try, I hope this may help.

For me it is heat rash in the same places as yours but also in other places and the only thing that cures it for me is a weeks course of Prednisolone. I have tried every tablet and cream prescribed but nothing works. I have seen a dermatologist who says they have millions of people who suffer from a rash and they never establish what's causing it. I was told it could ant bites, the die in my tights, cats, you mention it, they have no idea. I have an emergency kit at home, so I can start taking them the minutes is appears. Once you start scratching it just spreads like mad. I wear cotton gloves in bed at night alway as I scratch like mad. It can happen in summer or winter, summer from hot weather winter from central heating and over heating in bed.

Glamorous silk French knickers?

Not sure about bra. What did women do before elastic?

I am overwhelmed by the kindness and concern shown by the gransnet community. Thank you all for taking the time to help me with this problem. I will follow the tips given and await the dermatology appointment (hopefully not too long). Meanwhile bless you all for caring.

I’m in the States and have a latex allergy. I buy a lot from Cottonique. I’m not sure where they ship but you might want to check them out: www.cottonique.com/
