My new Skechers

I know we have had endless threads about trainers/comfy shoes/feet ? in general, but despite spending a couple of hundred pounds on 2 pairs of Hotter trainers, 2 pairs of Jana Softline (v soft) my feet are playing up again in this hot weather.
My Birkenstocks are fine but the necessity for compression socks means barefoot is no longer an option. I have just taken delivery of these Skechers Go Walk Joy - knitted and stretchy, superlight - at last I can walk in comfort! And at £34.99 a heck of a lot cheaper!

After reading all the raves about Sketchers I decided to have a look at them and they are the most ugly and unflattering shoes I have ever seen.

MawtheMerrier Fri 24-Jun-22 17:38:41

Delighted to hear it!

Just wanted to say thank you to MawtheMerrier. I was literally just about to order some sketchers from the official site for my husband and myself. After seeing this thread I decided to order from M&M Direct, and ordered 3 pairs all at half the price I would have paid. They arrived today, and are great. I’m really happy with them. smile
After I ordered, I realised I could have gone through Quidco and got 8% back. Hey ho! Hopefully someone else will benefit from this knowledge!

Comfort and stability for our safety are essentials which vanity should never get the better of.
I’d like more of the bright colours “mix” colour way.

Exactly, Aveline! When my feet were so bad, I really began to understand why older people can sometimes become housebound. It doesn’t take much. sad

SueDonim life is too short for uncomfortable shoes! I wore my new ECCO sandals today. Lovely and squidgy sole but lots of supportive and adjustable straps. Not too clumsy looking either.

Well I have just bought another Four pairs - white, coral, grey mix and a pair of black with black soles for later in the year or with black trousers.
They are half the price of Hotters and just so comfortable, feeling as light as a pair of thick socks! .

I like Sketchers, the styles I have are definitely not old ladies one's. I also have biker boots and they are comfortable as well.

SueDonim Mon 20-Jun-22 18:12:51

This thread makes me smile every time I see the title, simply because of the thought of people having comfortable feet. ❤️

I've had my 2 pairs of Sketchers for many years. one pair for inside as slippers, the other, laceups, for outside.
Before I found them my footwear, mostly leather, caused multiple corns and other problems.
They've helped to keep me on my feet, still plodding around.

I have a pair of Sketchers (bought before I realised they were old lady shoes ?) and although they're super comfy, I've got planter faciitis and the Sketchers make it worse. I'm much better wearing my firm biker boots.

? Maw. We’ve been thinking about upstairs and downstairs hoovers but as long as him indoors is able and willing to do the hoovering and lug the blasted thing about ..,

JaneJudge Sun 19-Jun-22 13:02:06

I like sketchers too but I find the rip off sainsburys version just fine too and buy in the sale for £7 wherever possible smile )

MawtheMerrier Sun 19-Jun-22 12:54:58

Fill yer boots!
I have a handheld Dyson upstairs and a Shark downstairs (it was a fairground goldfish, but it growed)

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 19-Jun-22 12:34:27

I have a Lakeland spider catcher upstairs and one downstairs. Eat your heart out Kitty!?

kittylester Sun 19-Jun-22 12:28:52

Not showing off but we have one upstairs and one downstairs.

(and) the Ikea Omsorg £1 long shoehorn is brilliant!

Hear hear- I use mine all the time!
Can also double as a backscratcher - multipurpose!

Parsley3 Sun 19-Jun-22 11:26:45

Thank you for the info Maw. I have ordered two pairs and some socks. I have had a pair of well worn Go Walk shoes for years and I don’t know why I haven’t bought more as they are so comfortable to wear. .

I have Skechers as slippers/house shoes, for comfort, but find that they wear out far too quickly for any serious walking. Merrells trainers are my favourite for those long daily dog walks. I used to be always barefoot indoors - but the 'padding' on our soles seems to disappear when we're older.

I reach my feet by sitting on a chair with my feet up on the end of my bed - if you see what I mean!

Mazgg Sat 18-Jun-22 17:19:05

I have shoe envy! I take size 2 and have very little choice. I've tried children's department but not found anything suitable, also find children's size 2 uncomfortable, maybe made using a different last? I can get a limited number on Pavers. Any other Gransnetters with small feet found a good source please share.
Shops on line specializing in small sizes either horrendously expensive or with sky scraper heels.

I always used to buy Hotter but I think they changed the fitting a few years ago. I have had some Skechers but have changed to Pavers now.

I agree about Hotters. Although I accept that my feet might have changed too!
But their styling is way off these days. Tempted by the recent 30% off offer I searched in vain for something I actually LIKED .
About 10 -12 years ago their styling was way better -and more tempting - and I became known as Mrs Marcos to my Hermes delivery lady.

I have worn almost nothing but Skechers since having plantar fasciitis, apart from some more reasonable imitations from Caravelle, which are just as comfy. I have found the cheapest Skechers are on Ebay or Sports Direct on line.
