Lost confidence in dressing

Maw, I remember pre pandemic, you used to post pictures of items, you had bought and I thought you looked very stylish.

I know what you mean about being undecided. I have the hospital tomorrow and after much angst, still haven't decided what to wear..

PS, I love the scarf!!

I think my decision making powers were a casualty of the pandemic. I find it hard to make any decisions now, not just about dressing.
I think I'd choose the black jacket ensemble,

I agree with Marydoll, from some of your posts (and occasional pictures), I have always thought you have style and flair.

Am sure whatever you choose will look great. You sound to have lots to choose from, (not intended as a criticism, but good to have choices).

I'm the least stylish person to give advice so I'd be guided by your DD and find out if MIL's family are tending to wear black with a touch of colour or other subdued colours - or perhaps even brighter clothes.

DH went to a funeral recently where the deceased had requested in her funeral instructions "no black at all please".

I like the sound of the darker jackets to accentuate the colours in the soft scarf.
I hope you find your flair for dressing elegantly again. I was reading the other day that nice lingerie, underneath an outfit, can also make you feel more confident in your own skin, so to speak.

I would go with the black trousers simply because if its a woodland burial ground then there might be splashes of mud/dew which would show on the cream trousers.
The scarf is beautiful and so appropriate for a green burial.

I know exactly what you mean. I loved clothes and modelled when young. I had the most amazing wardrobe.

Now I am totally clueless.

Joseanne, I read something similar the other day. Stylish French women wear lingerie to match their clothes. I used to do that when I was teaching. My colleagues used to ask me to show my bra straps to confirm that my standards weren't slipping!
Not any more! . I can't be bothered, that is apart from my hospital visit tomorrow. There are teal shades in my dress, which will be matched to my lingerie!

Maw, that scarf will make any outfit. The cream jacket and dark trousers might be forgiving if mud becomes an issue. You’ll look smashing x

One classy lady which ever you decide to wear will look right.
The scarf will pull them all together and the pattern very appropriate.
I think a lot of us have lost our confidence at social occasions they have been so few.

I always start with the shoes.

I have these in black and also very dark navy, MerylStreep (Gabor) or, if wearing the beige trousers either these Rieker -(which I also have in brown) or these tan boat shoes from M&S

That is a very nice scarf. I agree with others with the darker trousers and light blazer.

I love the scarf- I am a scarf person - I feel it sets off any outfit. My neighbour who very rarely uses a scarf, came in here with a lovely scarf round her neck. She looked so smart. I thought her trouser and top were new. She said she said she wears it regularly, but I only noticed them because of her scarf?

I do think it must be an after-effect of lockdown and isolation. When I do get to anything I find myself thinking “Oh I could have worn my such-and-such” when I see what others are wearing, but it didn’t occur to me.
Need to get out more!

Another vote here for the darker trousers maw, although you may be less likely to slip and stain pale trousers than I would be. The scarf is lovely, the shoes would work well. Trust your instincts. No matter which way you go try please to decide today and put the other clothes out of sight and out of your head, you’ll feel more confident then. I’ll be thinking of you all on Friday.

Good suggestion Cornergran too much dithering - if I didn’t have a choice it would be decided for me.
