Hotter Shoes - are they different or is it just me?

I have been buying Hotter shoes - mainly sandals - for the last two or three years since I developed plantar fasciitis. Maybe I have bought them since the change.

I was trying everything (shoe-wise) to relieve the pain in my heel. FitFlops were OK but a bit too floppy with the stretchy tops.

Hotters turned out to be perfect for me. I am a standard size 6 and buy online from Hotters when the sales are on or there is an offer. I find the arch support very good.

I also suffer from blisters if I wear sandals with bare feet. I have bought Tourist sandals from Hotter and can wear them all day with no problems. I have them in about five colours and have a navy pair coming today

I used to always wear Clarks shoes but the quality seemed to go down about five years ago. I think they also started manufacturing abroad.

I find Sketchers shoes on the big side. The lady in their shop said they come up big because they are American.

I find Pavers very hard, narrow and uncomfortable

I like the look of their Rose sandals.

I don't find any change in Hotter shoes. I bought some recently and they fit just the same as the pair I bought last year. I just have to check the width as cannot wear their wide fit shoes. If I get narrow, I go up half a size.
I also like Ecco but they are very expensive. Some Clarks are good but some are too soft. Reiker come up very small.

A salesperson in Ecco told me years ago that Hotter basically ripped off the designs from Ecco and used cheaper materials, hence the price difference.

Ecco used to be made in Denmark but got too successful and moved operations to Portugal (and probably the far east). As soon as that happened, their lasts changed and nothing fitted me anymore.
I reckoned the Portuguese with their slim, shallow feet couldn't believe that Northern feet were so broad and deep.
Just a theory....

My middle name could once have been Hotter but I have been disappointed recently.
Yesterday I bought two pairs of trainers in our local Charles Clinkard shop - which I always thought on the expensive side, but these were suede with lacing and.a side zip and only £59.99 each whereas my most recent Hotters were £89
These are like wearing pillows on your feet - bliss!
I don’t know if I can blame the pandemic but two years of trainers/slippers/Birkenstocks and my feet seem to have grown a half size and widened to the width of your average tug boat.
These are SO SOFT , called Jana Softline and come highly recommended.
(I have worn the beige suede ones all day today at the family Woodland Burial funeral and they are still comfortable and I felt reasonably smart casual in them)

That is worth knowing Maw. I have found some soft shoes haven't the soles to see you through the day without aching legs.
My local shoe shop is certainly not cheap but they do have a few Clearance shops where you can get bargains

I know Rogers of old, but always thought they specialised in narrow fittings- and my legs seem to end in two hovercraft!
I’m still in these (13 hours on ) and feeling good- I also felt very secure waking along the woodland paths this morning (and later in the pub!)

This year I have bought two pairs of their shoes. I have been a real fan and almost all of my shoes are from their shops. However, although all the shoes I have from before fit me with no problem and always comfortable I purchased these later ones by click and collect and they have the same problem. That is a real struggle to get them on and having to wear them around the house before becoming anywhere near comfortable. Then this week my dd knowing I wear Hotter’s had a another pair delivered to me. These were really unbelievably tight. As far as I can determine my feet haven’t swollen or changed in any way and if this is the case my older ones would also be uncomfortable. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Similarly, I have many pairs of Leanne 11 but the latest are stiff and irritate my feet and they were nothing like the photo in style or colour (they refunded). In the past I have bought that style, put them on straight away and walked for miles with no problem.

I was looking for a really comfy pair of sandals last week and our local Dobbies Garden Centre has both a Hotter concession and a Pavers in it, so I had a look round both. I liked the look of one pair of Hotter sandals, but the soles really weren't all that comfortable, so I went for a pair of Pavers instead.

Mum found the same, that they were slightly different sizes. to previously.
