Layered Short Hair During Lockdown

I have very thick short layered hair, if I go beyond my usual 6 week cut it gets very unruly and uncontrollable. I had my hair cut on 17th Dec before lockdown. The earliest I can get another cut will be the end of April. I cut my fringe myself, but I cannot cut the rest. Any thoughts of how to keep it under control? Blow drying won't help as the layers are too long and heavy. Would a hair band be any use? Any other ideas? I know in the overall scheme of things at the moment this isn't a massive problem, but any suggestions would be appreciated, I am not prepared to have a go at cutting it!

You fortunate SueSocks! In my youth too I had thick unruly long hair that I got into trouble at work about and now my hair is pathetically thin and goes wispy unless club- cut short.

Same problem, layered short hair, but fine so I need a weekly blow dry, a five weekly trim and a body perm everytwo or three months. Mobile hairdresser thank goodness, as salon prices would bankrupt me. Apart from the back which has grown long and ratty, at the nape of my neck, I have brushed my hair into some sort of shape, don't wash it and spray rigid with firm hairspray.
Attempting to trim fine hair on one's own is an absolute no, no..

Like many, mine was short and layered and is now more like a haystack! No idea when I can get a cut.

I have been cutting my own short layered pixie style hair,my fingers show their own story of getting in the way of cutting the back.It doesn’t look too bad,but I am sure my hairdresser is dreading the return to work and all the lockdown haircuts she will have to work with.

How about a thick hair and, or a turban, or big wooden slides? Some lovely styles about. Go on Pinterest, type in how to control hair, hundreds of ideas come up! ???

I have wavy hair which is quite thick (thicker than ever since I’ve been taking vitamin D!). I usually keep it very short - especially in the neck and round the ears. I’ve been commandeering DH’s razor which has a trimmer on it and I’ve kept the sides reasonably tidy, but I dare not tackle the top, and the back now has a huge wave above the neck and I’ve decided I’d better leave that alone too! I got told off by my hairdresser after the last lockdown. She said after what I had done, it was only just redeemable! Roll on April!

My hair is short, thick and curly ish. I’ve always had it short as it tends to grow out rather than down. Last summer Mr S got some clippers and I sent away to the States for a no 20 guide. With that and a no 10 and No 8 I’ve been doing my hair myself and as long as I can get my arms above my head I shall never go back to the hairdresser. Which is a pity because she’s lovely but just doesn’t listen. “I like it left a bit longer on the top” and I come out looking like Reginald Bosenquet (remember him?) “I like a bit left around the ears because wearing glasses and hearing aids makes my ears stick out” and I come out looking like something from the Beano.
