Socks with shoes?

Not sure what style you mean - but why not? If it's comfortable go for it. You could start a new trend especially if the socks are quirky or jazzy!

I have some shoes with a strap (not Hotter though) and I sometimes wear a low sports sock with them if I am wearing a skirt or trousers that stop at the ankle. But them, I have a thing about my feet being uncovered (weird woman!).

I wear socks with boots and if wearing trousers and shoes a pair of knee high tights. With a skirt I would always wear tights. You can get those liner sort of things which hardly show in a shoe but cover the foot.

I seem to be about as stylish as a pudding. I always wear socks and never ever tights - the work of the devil!

I agree with Luckygirl. (Is there anyone on earth who 'one size' actually fits? Sorry, I digress.)
To answer the original question - I have several pairs of those Mary-Jane style shoes with a strap across the instep, some of them from Hotter, and I always wear socks when it's cold - don't care if it looks frumpy or not. Comfort first!

Always wear Socks with my Shoes, not too bothered about being frumpy either. Not a lover of tights either.

I've noticed a lot of women wearing very short socks that end below the ankle bone.

No socks with open shoes do look frumpy sorry to those that wear them, each to his own , trainer socks below the ankle with trainers or othe light laced shoes, and whatever kind of socks you like with boots but never with strappy shoes .. it’s the equivalent of men wearing socks with sandals

I knit most of my socks, and they’re all quite jazzy. I do wear them with a pair of Hotter shoes that have a bar and buckle, mainly with jeans.

Rolande I know exactly the style of hotters you mean, the Mary jane style. For me, I definitely wouldn't wear socks with them. they may feel comfortable for some, but if you're looking to be stylish, I say NO socks!!

I think it's quite fashionable to wear socks with shoes these days but, unfortunately it's one of those fashions that only looks good on young people .

I wear socks when wearing trousers, for dressier occassions knee highs or ankle highs are good. For more casual wear I just make sure I match the colour of the sock to shoe and trousers so they really do not show up.

Yes, if you wear them with jeans, but not otherwise ( I may have to send the style police to your house!)

Get some exciting socks. I have a pair of long red and black knee length socks with skull and cross bones on them from a former colleague whose range of zany socks I had admired.
Well they would have been knee length on her. She was a lot taller than me.

Thank you for your replies. lemongrove you sound like my daughter . She was horrified at the thought of socks with those! Having said that, yesterday had to go out in the rain and didn't want to wear my new boots, so wore dark navy socks, same colour as the shoes. And yes, I had jeans on!
