So what do I do now?

Ooooh just recoloured my hair again honey blonde after a lot of white roots showing, didn't like it it seems to drain the colour from my face, hate colouring my hair but the results make me feel so much better and gives me a healthy looking glow, can't give it up yet I am 61, but giving up hair colouring is just around the corner aaaaaah!!!!!!

Yup ...have the problem of white/.blonde hair. Strangely enough it started growing at the roots dark grey ....previously it has grown from the roots white ! ...odd ? anyway, I just bought some stuff in a tube, a gel, which is for 'summer hair' ! and it has worked in turning the dark grey roots the same colour as the rest ...but, since I have a thyroid problem, which my doc says causes hair loss, I have really fine hair. I just read about a product called Nanogen hair fibres ...looks good in the magazine, but for me it is quite expensive (19 GBP in Boots online, but 29 Euros to buy here !) ....before I spend spend spend, has anyone tried it, and how do you find it ?? thanks for any advice !

My hairdresser suggested I stop dying my hair as he said the natural colour was great. I havent dyed it since and everyone compliments me on it. It is a sort of mix with brown/blonde/grey/white. Couldnt afford highlights like that!

I gave up colouring my hair when I was 60 and just let it grow out. The result has been that for the first time in my life, I love my hair! It's now a mixture of white/grey/blonde and many people comment favourably upon it. Maybe nature knows best?

I have grey/blonde hair phoenix and don't worry about brow colour, and nor should you, but brush in a bit of dark blonde powder on them if you want them to look lighter?

A lot of youngsters have their hair dyed grey and then have those thick dark eyebrows painted on. It is a fashionable, youthful look.

I saw someone on a tv quiz show the other day refer to herself as having always been a blonde. She was in her 70's and silver grey it looked fine but it certainly was not blonde.
I now have nice silver/grey hair and I have to darken my brows as they have all but disappeared so I wouldn't worry about having darker brows .

phoenix' let it grow out to give it time to recuperate from the shock it has had, then if you want to change it you could go for highlights of a jewel colour pink or green. Saw a lady in Chester last week she had very silvery white hair with shocking pink highlights in, she looked stunning. She also had a beautiful pedicure too. Very elegant.

Phoenix, let your hair grow out white. I did after years of dyeing mine and now people thing I'm a blonde! (I think)

Charley who wants to look like everyone else.? Embrace the difference I say. I used to henna my hair when it was dark. Now it is silver, cut in a short bob and I am very happy with it.

I am growing my grey out and the front has gone a nice shade of silver , but it's still slightly darker underneath. My hairdresser put some highlights in to break up the rootline and a toner on to give it a cool silvery look. I've also experimented with blue and lilac tones. I love the different shades, don't want a block colour, but at least I'm not having to worry about roots anymore. It's not low maintenance, but I'm enjoying experimenting.

BBbevan that is how I have ended up! When I last moved house I was dyeing my hair regularly but eventually the stress of selling etc got to me and I stopped dyeing my hair and decided to leave it and I have never regretted it. Maybe my eyebrows look "different" but it does not bother me.

I had never had my hair dyed professionally, it was always "out of a bottle" for me. The grey was overtaking and I hated the grey area at the scalp. phoenix I would leave it and see if you like it- you may be surprised. I have very fine but a lot of hair so it works for me.

Think I'd let the colour grow out and see. You can always re-colour if you don't like it. Doesn't sound as if your current colour is much darker so your eyebrows may not be an issue. Give it a go. Be brave - again.

morethan I think grey hair and very dark eyebrows would look stunning. Give it a go ?

I have found It gives enough colour on my top area & fringe
I have a light blonde, the one just before you need bleach ((bleach ruined my hair once never again!)
Then banded with caramel and chocolate
My hairdresser puts a bit extra by my ears where hair tends to blow back.
I think this would also help if you want to grow colour out.

I'd love to have the courage to go grey. My eyebrows are black and that's what stops me. I've gone lighter in the past a sort of caramel but I look in the mirror and was constantly shocked by the light hair and black eyebrows. I thought I looked ridiculously odd. I have a fairly prominent brow bones so that doesn't help. I'm darker now and I'll have streaks to break it up but it costs a fortune. If you get really good advice Phoenix can you pass it on.

I would be tempted to leave it phoenix especially If it will actually be white. I'd love white hair rather than the dead mouse mine would be if I let my highlights grow out!

I don't dye my hair so nothing useful to say about that, sorry! However, after your thread about putting oil on your hair and a plastic bag on your head, I tried it myself. Well, the former, but not the latter!

I rubbed a bit of argan oil into my hair when I first got up then let it soak in while tidying the bedroom and so on, then I washed my hair. It's improved the dryness of my hair a lot! I didn't use a plastic bag or a third of a ramekin of oil, a few drops has done the job just fine.
