Shopping grrrrrr

I like to have plenty of mirrors round the shop, so I can grab something off a rail and hold it up in front of the mirror and get a rough idea if it will work.

Many years ago I went into a clothes shop in Oxford Street and a sales person tagged along beside me. I said that I did not want any help as I was "just looking". Apparently then it was company policy not to allow customers to browse. I walked out of the door and went elsewhere. The shop was empty when I entered, no wonder if that was the policy. I hate being hassled.

Hollister (dark and deafening) is for the young- I give my nephew some money and he can go in himself, likewise Superdry!! I used to love Laura Ashley for the clothes and that they had lovely gentle classical music. I find John Lewis quite good - no music and good sized individual changing cubicles. Monsoon is OK and East and the larger branches of M & S but the clothes are terrible and the queues to pay are endless. Cant stand Matalan (jumble sale)or Primark - see through cheap clothing piled in heaps. Hobbs - good but pricey, Reiss silent and pricey, Jigsaw is nice but can be busy at weekends. In short I despair of finding clothes and mostly buy on line from Boden, Joules and White Stuff.

Yes Ana, maybe online shopping is the answer, but nothing ever looks the same in real life....nightmare!

Was in a certain well known sports shop trying to buy dgs's birthday present and couldn't hear myself think. It's a ploy to part you from your cash because I ended up not being as choosy/comparing prices etc as normal. I was desperate to buy something...anything...so I could get out of the shop. Spent double what I meant to.

Are these safe working noise levels as per HSE?

Agree, loubell. I don't like shops where assistants ignore me,me specially if they are too engaged in private conversations to notice customers. I don't like shops where assistants seize me and start selling me things, either.

Can you order from them online?

The store in Bath has such loud music you can't hear yourself speak - and that's before you get through the door.

How on earth anyone can work in such a dark gloomy and noisy environment beats me - perhaps she could neither hear nor see you loubell
