How to look... er... grumpy

If you watch Britain's/America's Next Top Model they are always very insistant about getting a range of expressions from each model on a photo shoot. I find that in most of the pictures you see in magazines the model has exactly the same expression regardless of the pose or the garments she's wearing. It seems to be a case of "This is the expression I use - tough if you don't like it"

Oh, thanks for that, bags...I've been thinking the very SAME about the majority of so-called models. Why do they appear to be on the verge of "throwing up" or being acutely constipated. It really annoys me that someone, somewhere believes that to look so vacant is attractive. Cor blimey...our cat has more charisma.

Or, if you want it in a less negative way: pale. The opposite of hale and hearty, or robust and healthy-looking.

It means unhealthy-looking, under the weather, anaemic.

She looks bored and slightly stupid to me. What on earth is peel-wally bags?

I remember Twiggy in her model days as being very smiley in a lot of the photo shoots. This one is more like a schoolgirlish Victoria Beckham!

Some of the clothes look okay, in a monochrome sort of way. The model will have had a photographer telling her how to pose and how to look and clearly she must have achieved the effect that was desired by the magazine or whoever commissioned the photos, so I guess that's a success.

No wonder she looks so miserable. The clothes are dull, dreary, uninspiring, unflattering . . .

She looks as if she is thinking 'I hate these clothes and can't wait to get out of them and into something that suits me'

Just and take the money, dear. Then spend it on a decent haircut.

She looks rather French and existential and probably high maintenance and expensive- liked some of the clothes so but they would look like an unmade bed with me inside.

Don't think I could look alluring in a month of Sunday's even if I tried ..... Would never be considered model material either!

Think of twiggy though. She was naturally thin and never smiled.

It seems to be the classic look of all cat-walk models. Just plain miserable. Very thin as well. Any attempt to look alluring falls flat at my feet. She needs a good meal. If the purpose is to flog clothes, then it would be good to see models who show a modicum of happiness in what they're wearing.

Reminds me of "pale and interesting" Victorian maidens, who were probably in the grip of consumption and about to act out the harrowing deathbed scene.

I dont think that timeless classics work until a person is at least 70.
Else it just looks like you are rehashing the same things.
Could be wrong, as I am not a fashion guru.

She looks put-upon and sulky. She thinks looking what she thinks is sexy is a substitute for being alive and alert. Her bloke probably thumps her but she hasn't the nous to get out, she would rather be a victim.
Come to think of it, she looks like the "heroin chic" images that were all the rage for models a while back, gaunt and ill-looking.

I probably look distracted most of the time, or perhaps confused would be a better word. And I' m sure I look grumpy. Don't wear timeless classics though. Unless you count Marks and Sparks warm handle blouses. (Yes, from the old ladies' section) (worn 'em for years)

Actually, I think she looks gormless rather than grumpy. It's the open mouth that does it. I know it's probably supposed to look sexy

Looks as though you need to have no tits and let your hair get split ends too. Timeless dreary not timeless classic.

She could do with a good meal, a hair trim and a kick up the arse.
