I've got a Christmas work-do next week and I've left it last minute to find a dress - eek. I'm not a big fan of exposing my arms, can anyone recommend any long sleeved dresses? Also matching shoes?

Oh and there is black and there is black! The dress Ana mentioned looks washed out.

Thanks for the suggestions! Can anyone suggest a dress that isn't black or red? They seem to be few and far between. And links please!

I've a lovely phase eight one that's black lace over nude coloured fabric. It's in their new special collection.

It has been suggested that emerald green is the colour for 2013. Get ahead of the trend muddyboots and wow them. smile

I haven't any green jewellery! Does this mean I've got to go and buy emeralds?

And jade jeni.

I got this one from Toast earlier this year.
I got the dark green colour which is a much richer colour than it looks on the website. I wear it with some peridot earrings and a pendant that I bought for DS's wedding 7 years ago.

What about this M&S one? They've also got a whole category called 'dresses with long sleeves'!

Also found this dress on the Daxon's website from the Gransnet's discount partners page.

Ohh thanks Mulberry. Not keen really on that dress you've linked to (sorry), but have found this one on the Daxon site: www.daxon.co.uk/crealine-ladies-metallic-jacquard-fabric-dress-black-jacquard.htm?ProductId=009301433_VP063821188&FiltreCouleur=6556&CodBouw=063821188&t=2

This is a bargain on John Lewis: http://www.johnlewis.com/369258/Product.aspx

Loving the suggestions on this thread!

What great taste in clothes you all have! I'm trying hard to not to splash out on a lovely dress now...

Have found these I like from John Lewis, Daxon, Phase Eight, Debenhams and Monsoon. Too much choice!!

It's a good job we I don't use skype to much as the mess you would see on my bed at the moment would frighten the life out of most people,I am deciding what to wear for the Christmas lunch with neighbours this pm and went to put out my tried and tested black top only to find I had left it at my sisters house in GUILFORD ????
All the black and white combinations are now strune across my bed and the temper is rising, why do things seem a wee bit too small I have been excercising and not stuffing my face with goodies for ages (waiting for xmas),I think I will have to wear cross over top and loosen the ties and hope the bulges are disguised enough to get away with it.confused

What a frumpy lot of party dresses selected. Let's hope they look better on than in the photos!

janeainsworth Fri 14-Dec-12 11:25:10

What sort of party dresses do you like PPP?
Or is it perhaps better not to ask?

Anne58 Fri 14-Dec-12 14:24:11

How very dare you!

For the last few weeks I`ve been looking at a dress in the Marisota pop-up ads, it was £48, which I`d never dream of paying for a dress. Then another pop-up the other day said it was now £35, I started to ponder it, then today it`s down to £28.50. I don`t have that much actual cash to spare, should I use my credit card to treat myself, or just do without? I don`t desperately NEED it, and it won`t look on me anything like as nice as on the model, but oh, I w-a-a-a-ant it!confused

By the way, I can`t do links, but there`s a picture of the dress in my profile. What do the folk who`ve met short, fat me think it will look like on me?

Ella46 Tue 18-Dec-12 16:56:27

number Get it! You deserve it ten times over! smile

And please be brutally honest............but not too cruel.

JessM Tue 18-Dec-12 17:34:26

Yes I think you should. As long as it fits ok.
Just read the sex education advice for brides - taken my breath away. grin

numberplease Tue 18-Dec-12 17:44:09

It`s hilarious isn`t it Jess? I`ll bet all of us would have adhered to it, don`t you think..............not!
Well, I`ve taken the plunge and ordered the dress, fingers crossed that I won`t look too ridiculous in it!

jeni Tue 18-Dec-12 17:51:29

Number I'd get it if I were you
