A thread for those who are watching it.

Not sure how interested in it I will be.
Like I said on the not watching thread, it may depend how far some Countires I am interested in, get to, in the competition.

We won’t be watching it this time which I find rather sad, because my DH due to suffering a massive stroke resulting in cognitive impairment no longer has any interest in football, though he loved the game before. Myself and the family have tried to reignite his interest but he will not engage with it anymore. 😕

Sorry to hear that F S ,my O H didn't watch it either, he has lost interest in football since Alzheimers ,but I sat up to watch it..

Did you sleep afterwards?

pably15 Sun 14-Jun-26 14:10:00

I sat up to watch the Scotland game Sunday morning, I don't usually watch football, broad daylight when it finished at 4 am

She also said, that everyone in the Group has 1 point so far.
She wondered, like I do, what happens if everyone in a Group gets equal points?

I know I could look up the answer myself.

I am British but live in Canada so I am supporting England and Canada.
The score today was 1:1 when Canada played Bosnia in Toronto.

I only saw the last few minutes. My partner said Canada didn’t deserve to lose so I glad they equalised.

And I was glad to see Cyle Larin from my team, Southampton, score the equaliser.

A Canadian I know, today said it is the first time that Canada has scored a point in the World Cup!

Well done Canada!

And well done Scotland!

My team too Sarnia 👍
Well done Scotland ⚽️

Many of my family stayed up to watch Scotland play. DH taped it, then watched it this morning, everyone was sworn to secrecy, until he had done so.

I am not a football fan, but my family are, it's going to be a long haul. DH would watch flies playing football, if nothing else was available.

Well done Scotland! At least DH will be in a good mood! 😊

Definitely a football fan here, thrilled that Scotland took 3 points last night!

I am so looking forward to the football. My partner has the list if all the fixtures from the paper too.
I am sad about the Somalian referee though. The vile Trump said he is not coming, the country stinks and they have taken out the trash.
For those of us who want to watch it let's look forward to some good football. Come on England.

Thank you Reka for the reminder. I was indeed on the wrong day.

Sorry to hear about your husband Fallingstar. You never know how many more world cups you will enjoy together.

Linekar is on Netflix Maybee70, I won’t be watching him.

Thanks. My partner thought he was going to be on ITV so that’s a disappointment. Has he taken Alan Shearer with him I wonder? I missed a good game tonight as I was working in the garden.

DH and I will be watching as many games as we can, although not at 02.00 am.
I'm looking forward to some good football and will be keeping score on my wall chart.

I can’t remember which World Cup it was but I was a great fan of Nedfed when he played for the Czech Republic. Ok I must admit to finding him absolutely gorgeous, too, if I’m honest blush but, as a player he had star quality. I don’t know much about football but sometimes I’ll recognise talent and class in a player or a team. I know I’ve watched some games knowing that I’m watching something special but it doesn’t happen very often. Are there any players or teams that I should be looking out for. I think last World Cup Mbape (sp?)was the stand out player. I usually find the England games very boring I’m afraid. We seem to play so slowly. I don’t understand the adulation for Messi but, as I said I don’t understand the game.

My husband and I are getting up at 2 am on Monday morning to watch Scotland v Haiti. We will have a wee dram too. Can't wait.

You'll miss it! It's on Sunday at 2am I think 🤔

MayBee70 Fri 12-Jun-26 17:04:34

I’m a night owl anyway so will be watching some of the games. There was a fascinating Q&A with Gary Lineker on ( I think ) ITV ( I was channel hopping). People who don’t like him should watch it. I’m pleased that he’ll be a pundit on ITV. I have to admit to missing the era of footballers like Beckham , Owen, Lineker, Gaza etc. Don’t understand why our team is so dependent on Harry Kane who, good as he is, is now in the twilight of his career and no one new seems to be coming up through the ranks to replace him.As I’m still doing my neverending decluttering I like to have sport on in the background whilst I’m doing it so that’s what I’ll be doing.
