Every time I watch the Olympics I resolve to buy more National Lottery tickets to support our Olympians and then I forget to do so. They all praise the lottery for it’s invaluable support.

Team GB did really well, especially when you consider our size next to those around us in the medal table. It's the right decision not to have breakdancing going forward. It never will be an Olympic sport. I hope that the powers that be can agree on a globally accepted set of rules for those athletes who have questions about their gender and testosterone levels and find a way that is fair for all athletes. The boxing was not an example of that.

I gave up when everyone was milling about tripping over those cables and gurning at the cameras, and went to bed with a good book.

It’s been the best Olympics for Australia for many,many years. I love to see some of the countries which don’t usually get medals being successful. Can’t help wondering how many the Russians would have taken.
