New site design being tested!

The new banner is better than the old one, though I didn't dislike the old one.

Blued stuff shows up better.

Oh, and I'm glad there's no "strap" line.

Brightness is easy to change on most machines.

When my mum first started having trouble with Macular Degeneration, she said that 'arty farty' colours for backgrounds and print colours made things harder to read. She said black on white was best for her because of maximum contrast.

Which would seem to suggest that the new Gransnet desktop colours have got it right for people who struggle to see things clearly.

Baggs - so you think GNHQ have designed this for those of us who are visually impaired?
If so, I withdraw my complaints. Maybe there are more members than I realised with this problem.

Oh I see - the one they asked us about the other week. Obviously our answers weren't good enough...

Maybe MN was asked about the GN strapline suggestion because it was met with indifference here and seen as unnecessary, while the decision has been made that there will be one and consultation is deemed necessary.

I seem to remember there being quite a few suggestions mcem.

Yes some suggestions but few were enthusiastic while many expressed indifference or dislike. Compared to this thread with all its concerns, the strapline one was very short lived.
To me that says that the strapline discussion is far from top of the list of GN priorities so why push it?

Well, as you said in your previous post, GNHQ seem determined that we will have a strapline, whether we want one or not - even to the extent of asking MN for their opinion!

It will be interesting to see which, if any, of our suggestions are taken up.

Lara PLEASE get rid of this bright white background!! The colourscheme was fine as it was before, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Any suggestions on how to deal with this? On mobile site - kindle fire. In case of doubt or inability to see, all posrers' names are the same as the top post .

Better example

I have really tried to get on with this new design, but to be honest, even though I am more secure finding my way round it, I still finding it too bright, too white and too uncompact, if you know what I mean.

The only things I don't like are the wishy-washy blue/grey coloured band dividing the posts, the current lack of the 'italics' function and the strange little banner.

I find the rest of it OK...

I was pleased to see "add comment" had been added but am disappointed that when you press this ,it adds comment to the bottom of the thread not to the comment by a person, you then have to type their name and hope they see it.

That's always been there, jacksmum.

opps senior moment on my part ,!! lol, but wish it would put comment below the persons post that i want to answer, it is not always the OP post xx

I've thought that, too, but if the thread goes quickly, the person to whom you responded would not see it, would s/he?
