Traditionally it is a red rose for St. George's Day. My grandparents always wore one to celebrate the day, as did many of their peers - and they were quite expensive in those days too.
Don't think we've ever had anything for St George's Day before, have we? Must be why they gave us the daffodil for St David's Day so they could save the dragon for now...
