Harness lightening for electricity

When I was at school my science teacher told us that she was taught that the atom could not be split. In the same theme, everything is possible, I wish that we be able to harness electric lightening for everyone’s use.
Any other ideas?

If were talking way into the future, using the sun's energy either directly or indirectly from the moon is plausible.

I feel time travel is cheating as everything could be seen with hindsight.
