It seems that this year's cold and wet summer has had a bad effect on many butterfly species (hopefully, they will recover next year), but some, such as ringlets and meadow browns have done really, really well. Ever wonderful, ever strange Nature!
I had noticed there were lots of ringlets and meadow browns in our garden this year but fewer peacocks and small tortoiseshells.
