Anyone else getting more scam messages lately?

Seems to be a lot of scam messages about at the moment. I've had a fake Evri text asking for a redelivery fee, and a parking fine one with a link to pay. And Cillafan had the TV licence email earlier.

I've also heard of people getting calls from "the bank" asking them to move money to a safe account. Banks never ask that.

I tend to just ignore anything rushing me to pay and ring the company myself if I'm unsure.

Anyone else had any recently?

I've had the TV license one, but only saw it because I was checking junk email for something else.
I think a lot of spam gets blocked by our providers without us necessarily being aware of it.

We're getting loads of scam calls on our landline and both mobiles. Very often we don't answer in time as they use those robo-diallers but when my husband picks one up he likes to play along until rumbled!

I’ve had a few calls today from numbers that I don’t recognise!. If I don’t know the number it doesn’t get answered. I just block & report it .
One voicemail said please add me to what’s app !. There’s Bob hope and no hope on that one

Yes lots of scams by phone and online. Yesterday I had one asking me to answer questions about the NHS app and I would be sent a free medical kit. I started to answer the questions and then it said I had to pay postage, I then became very suspicious and deleted before filling in any bank details.

Nope

Lots of them in my junk folder which I ignore and delete. The number seems to have risen a lot over the past couple of months…

Yes. I've had quite a crop, in the last fortnight, claiming to be from my bank - and look pretty convincing - but always instructing me to "just click on this link to read an important message".

Yeah, sure.

Click Delete Gone.

Yes, I have had a couple of scam messages from Evri too. I just ignore them, but I have had a couple of strange ones too from senders that I don't recognise! I don't click on them! I just mark them as spam and then delete them.

I got my first scam text ever this week, from my bank telling me a payment of £382 was scheduled to be made from my account in favour of bogus company name and if I didn’t recognise it to phone the following London phone number! I didn’t of course, I phoned my banks fraud line instead and reported it! Stay safe out there!

We get regular calls from "bank security" telling us that our account shows we've spent hundreds of pounds on train tickets to Edinburgh...all nonsense, of course.
So those of you who live in Edinburgh, what destination do they choose for you to go to at great cost?!

I wonder if anyone could help educate me. There's an older Asian lady across the road who, most mornings, does a ritual with water; she stands in the direction of the sun and pours water from a round brown/bronze bowl. I'm curious to know a) what religion this is from, b) what the ritual is called, and c) what it's for. I'm curious about all religions and always eager to learn when I can. I thought about asking her, but I don't want to offend her or make her feel awkward. Thank you in advance for any help offered.

Oh, I think I have put this post in the wrong place. I'm new to posting

Yes particularly after looking at comparison sites for car insurance plus insurance companies

Yes suspected spam calls at least one a day. I just reject the call. Also the antivirus on my phone rejected some adverts as scam sites

Absolutely loads of messages and calls every day I am sick to death of them

Davisjen Sun 11-Oct-26 10:53:43

Yes I have had my bank account scammed twice last week and also my credit card.
I am so anxious and worried. I shall change my bank tomorrow first thing which is a shame having banked with them for 62 years!

Margs Sun 11-Oct-26 11:06:20

I had an email around a fortnight ago claiming to be from a solicitor I had usd for conveyancing some years ago. It said that an audit had highlighted an (unspecified) sum of money due to be refunded to me.

All they needed was my bank details. That's all.

What? A solicitor wanting to GIVE me money? And after several years?

Ha! Ha! Haaaaaaaaaaaa!

Yeah, loads of 'Add me to your whatsapp' requests, apparently for a part time job, I'm 75... (Can't wait to start.)
