I think Meghan and Kate are probably fairly indifferent about each other. Kate ,William and Harry did seem to have a nice rapport in a slightly " jolly hockey sticks " kind of way.
Shallow comment alert I liked looking at what the Royals were wearing at Ascot. Kate is very thin.

Cambridges and Sussexes breaking up their Charity work
(83 Posts)As we hear that the two Princes are splitting their Charities and the Sussex' Charity will become independent, what do you think has influenced the decision to make this major difference in their approach to a very important area of their lives? How do you feel about their decision to work independently?
It can't be an easy task, unless born into it, being a royal.
I believe Kate has adapted very well but then compare her previous life to Meghan's whose life before becoming an HRH was anything like that of her sister in law. Whatever Meghan has achieved in ' life before Prince Harry' has come from Meghan unlike Kate where life you could say was 'handed her on a plate'
This is where there can never be compatibility in what ever these two entirely different persons take on together.
I expect the decision to 'do their own charity work' separately is tactical.
Why throw Meghan and Kate together, as it will only lead to comparisons and the media going into frenzy about body language, best dressed, expressions, winners and losers, iciness between them, fall-outs or some such nonsense.
They may have sensibly decided between them to avoid that.
And (after thought)
Meghan probably wants to be the star of her own show.
Maxdecatt, no. I am pretty sure they also have the same father. Look at the forehead. Both Diana and Hewitt had broad foreheads. Diana had large blue eyes, Hewitt had fairly large hazel eyes. Harry has a narrow forehead and small grey eyes like Charles, and which he could not have got if he was a product of Diana and Hewitt.
there has been a split between the two young men. This is extremely sad, I feel. I think they were so good together, so supportive of each other, and they need each other.
Yes Tillybelle. It is sad.
The princes did have an incredibly strong bond and although he was called the third wheel once Will married Kate, the threesome really did enjoy each others company and there was no rift. Harry gained a sister.
Meghan has made the difference and I wonder, given time and once the newness of setting up house together and becoming parents has worn off, if Harry will spend time missing what he had before?
Who knows.
It is all speculation and we all move on and have different loyalties once married, but the bond between siblings, if strong (as theirs so wonderfully and obviously was) has been broken, one has to wonder why.
A wedge seems to have been driven between the boys. I wonder if they both miss the closeness they had, right into adulthood? I imagine they do, but know that keeping their distance is the only civilised way to get on now.
4 of our AC are boys, they are all married.
One DIL has jealousy issues, doesn't acknowledge 2 DIL, and "suffers" then other one.
The boys stay firm friends regardless.
Elvive, I think Kate is slim of course, but hugely helped by her slender bone structure!
Kate is , in my humble opinion, genetically slim. But assuming the camera adds 10lbs, she must be very very thin.
Of course it could be that I am jealous.
and although she acts as an ambassador for mental health she hasn’t helped the mental health any of her dad and the kind uncle who helped her career at the very beginning.
Good point Urmston.
Again, we don't know the whole story but I felt incredibly upset that his Mr Markle has been totally side-lined by the daughter he supported, loved and had contact with until Meghan met Harry.
That he hadn't even shaken the hand or spoken face to face with his future son-in-law before the wedding speaks volumes. That Meghan could not have engineered a secret, private healing meeting and given him a chance to meet Harry is astonishing.
I loathe family rifts and think of myself as a peace-keeper - fallings out are soon mended - but Meghan ditched her family when she started to move in exalted circles.
I think that is why I cannot take to her. That the Clooneys have suddenly become her best friends (A listers in Hollywood - Hollywood 'royalty' even, befriending an actress best known for a Canadian soap opera/series) makes me wonder too about social climbing , hers and theirs, and easily ditching the baggage (her family) of her previous life.
I wonder if Harry is happy (not sure why I should but as Tillybelle wrote, I had my children in the Diana era and had a rocky marriage and divorce to live through too, so I had much sympathy for her and delighted in her closeness with her sons and her less stuffy way of bringing them up/showing affection, etc. She broke the royal mould there.)
I wish Harry well and wish he and Meghan happiness, but I have my doubts that theirs is a 'forever' relationship. His closeness to his brother is, however, and I hope behind closed doors they are still the best of friends.
Not really related to op but what is with the ridiculous baby photos, a foot, a few fingers, half of his face. Personally think it’s all because Megan a bit of a diva, which could also be why the split in charity status. She strikes me as being a bit” it’s my way or the highway”. However not being a royalist in any way at all, it could be the highway as far as I’m concerned
The press would LOVE us to think the women don't get on. Because obviously two women married to a pair of high-profile brothers "must" be rivals. I doubt we have any clue whether they do or don't. I don't care either way. As for splitting the charities - seems the logical thing, the grown-up thing to do.
Although I don't hold a torch for Harry I have started to feel sorry for him since his marriage. I fear its bringing him more problems than he'd envisaged.
Really? Really? Who really cares? Four stupidly rich, vacuous upper class leaches. Why don't they get proper jobs? William had one, I understand, but jacked it in to sponge like the rest of them. Their Universal Credit seems rather more generous than that of other jobless of their age. I have no objections to the monarch, or her direct and immediate heir, but the rest of them are unnecessary. Putting on tin hat and running for the bunker.
nahsma, our democratically elected members of parliament between them support the existence of the monarchy in its current form and have decided it works best for the country pretty much as it is. If you don't agree, then you need to vote for an anti-monarchy candidate or at least one who thinks that having no more than two full-time royals is best. There is no point criticising the individuals or the family, who are simply behaving as democratically agreed.
I agree with Day6* Whatever his faults might be Thomas Markle is still Meghan's father, and I think the way she has treated him by completely shutting him out of her life tells us everything we need to know about her.
Once Harry's 'besottedness' (if there is such a word!) has worn off I think he will see his wife for what she is.
Yes the baby pictures are so peculiar. They remind me of how Michael Jackson used a blanket to completely cover his youngest child when he was a baby.
Perhaps Blanket would be a good nickname for the Royal baby
I would imagine that it is very difficult to get all their diaries to fit in with each other and now Harry is married and has his own interests and charities it is the easiest way to work separately. So many charities and events want royal involvement and there are only so many of them doing royal duties to go round. I feel somebody is out to get Kate, I guess the two women see very little of each other and probably just get on or make the best of it when they meet. Their backgrounds are so different they probably wouldn't have chosen each other as friends in the real world. I am sure Archie is adorable but I am amazed that after that awful photo there isn't a rumour going round about the bottom half of his face!
Don't give a stuff.
nahsma I agree. It's time to scale the royal family right back and the wealth and privilege that goes along with it imo - it has no place in the 21st century as it currently stands.
The two women have nothing in common. Kate is country,
Megan is town.
Can’t imagine Megan visiting farmers and trying her hand at shearing sheep, or helping to design and plant a garden .
Kate accepts she is part of a working family, not the centre of the working family, very much like Anne.
I remember a tv interview Anne gave when she was young speaking about criticism, ‘ they wanted a Princess but they got me’
And you all KNOW the intimate lives of the Princes and their wives....oh sorry you believe everything you read in the press and on the internet ...which in a lot if cases originates from USA journalism. Please give these two young Royals and their families a rest from malicious gossip.
None of our business... Brilliant to diversify...cover more ground than concentrating on one or two things I don't care what the reason is but do think it a good idea
Meghan.
How do you know it’s malicious gossip OmarfofMaya ?
History keeps on repeating itself when the media and people's short term memory are put together.
Isn't this type of rubbish the same rubbish as Diana and Fergie after their marriages ? All the fun and games became a comparison of who was more popular, glamorous, 'royal', acceptable etc etc etc
It was the media, paparazzi that caused the accident that killed Diana in the first place.
IF, just IF they don't all agree all of the time does it matter ? if the charities benefit from the changes they are putting in place thats got to be a good thing right ?
Megans relationship with her mother looks like a very solid one to me so if there is a problem with her dad maybe it's because there's a problem with him as a dad. Maybe that's why he's not still married to her mum, maybe that's why he's not in her life, maybe that's why he feels the need to go on tv and in the newspapers to justify himself and his behaviour because his daughter doesn't love him enough . Maybe he is a dick ? a narcissist ? a pathological liar ? a spoilt brat who likes things his own way ? or a very misunderstood individual ? I don't know
I do know that Harry is a fully grown man who seems to know his own mind. I do know someone who was in the army and served with him that speaks well of the man he is and his character . I put more faith in that mans judgement than I do the media that's for sure.
I would hate, absolutely hate my life to be scrutinised as theirs is because I wouldn't look good. I'd be overweight, nipping out to the shops for milk for my morning cuppa looking disheveled ('cos it's 2 minutes away and I don't function without my cuppa ) and I'd be labelled as unorganised and chaotic at best. We won't go into family relationships and the lively nights out over the years, last nights was watching The Dead South in perranporth which was fantastic by the way
Stop believing the media hype and slow the frenzy of speculation and gossip , be kind to other females
It was playing games with the media that killed Diana
