What a shame, deni1963. I'm sure you know by now that alcohol will always mean a roller coaster relationship, and that takes a heavy toll.
How sad, all on top of your birthday too. Is there any chance your husband could try to give up drinking again, so you could work it out?

You have done the best thing Denil963. Alcoholics rarely change and drag their partner down in the process of their haphazard 'life. ' That is not the way for you to lead a happy life. Yes, you must feel terribly sad but having made the decision, all strength to you to re-build a better and happier future for yourself. Apologies if this sounds harsh but you would waste the rest of your life if you stayed, watching the person you loved being destroyed.

My husband of 6 years was an alcoholic when I met him and stopped drinking after 2 years in 2008.
This year he is drinking again, and this week told me he was going to a meeting in London and would be done by 9pm.
He disappeared basically for 3 days, staying in hotels, sending me abusive messages and texts and yesterday was our 6th wedding anniversary.
I can't go on with it. The lies, abuse, constantly hiding his phone - and basically telling me everything is my fault. So I ended it yesterday.
Feel very sad.
And tomorrow is my birthday.
