This is my third Christmas without my husband and I was really thrown by the fact that I missed him much more than in previous years. I think the initial shock of his sudden passing is wearing off. I have three sons and three lovely grandchildren - but without "my bloke" it seemed very very empty and lonely this year.

sad

bikergran Wed 29-Apr-15 18:19:46

hmm grin

annodomini Wed 29-Apr-15 18:18:15

You may not have been in a state to remember the Halloween party, biker! grin

bikergran Wed 29-Apr-15 17:37:53

mcem thankyou and yes you put it better than me ! but yes that was the point I was trying to make and didn't want/hope that it was detracting from the original post which was Falcons

annsixty yes you are so right, in fact I spent most of the afternoon yesterday in my "other mode" with my mind so heavy on this time last when everything was sort of ticking along not too bad, and then "wham"! we didn't know what was coming, well we did, but! you know!

loopylou it was me that nearly had a fit! I misread the post about the "armchair" I thought well!!! I don't remember sitting in an armchair rubbing my knees together shock then re read the post and realised you meant your! armchair lol grin

anno ohh yes the Halloween party lol grin I have a photo on my profile of me at Pendle Hill! hope your coming along to the party anno would love you to meet "Randolph or was it Rudolph must re trace my post and a have a look hmm

Wondering where Falcon is ! hmm

annodomini Wed 29-Apr-15 17:20:14

Never mind the Christmas party. The original party was the Halloween one on Pendle Hill which was where biker's inflatable friends made their debut appearance.

loopylou Wed 29-Apr-15 16:58:01

I'm still trying to get the red wine stains out of the armchair after bikergran's post last evening about her knees and matches grin

DH thought I'd had a choking fit because he'd said something about the Election hmm

Wonderfully crazy ladies on this thread!

annsixty Wed 29-Apr-15 16:34:02

bikergran it is so good to see you getting some way to being your old jokey self again. I am sure you do all your grieving just the same and will for a long time but you are doing yourself (and others) some good by joining in with such good fun topics flowers

mcem Wed 29-Apr-15 16:25:32

Yes biker, I've been around since day one but had along spell away due to family stuff.
When I got back to GN I was unable go use my name for some reason so reregistered and em became mcem.
I take your point about new posters joining the thread at this stage and finding it's not what they expect. However I think you've introduced a note of nonsense and shown some sad ladies that it is ok to relax, to smile and to enjoy the company of others in a similar situation. Well done!

bikergran Wed 29-Apr-15 08:05:37

mcem hello, not sure if you are an old (cough) original poster but nice to see you...smile

Oh yes I am sure there's going to be a ball (amongst other things) grin
I shall have a mooch at the "Christmas Party Thread" and relive the moments smile

I must now put my "party head away as I am getting too excited grin and wait for Galan to send out the invites..open to all I'm sure ..whooohooo......(whoops sorry party head emerged again) tut!

I suppose we should let the thread ease back to it's original theme, as goodness knows what any "new widows" may think if they were to drop in! they will wonder what on earths going on smile but hope anyone would be able to have a little smile whilst reading the thread.

Until then I shall keep my ears and eyes open for the "announcement" Iv got my party frock ready grin and now going to do my homework on the theme .... whilst sipping my brew

mcem Tue 28-Apr-15 21:04:34

Ladies - although I haven't contributed to this thread, I've read it with growing admiration.
I do think you'd have a ball at biker's party and wonder if you'd like to have a flavour of the virtual parties of the 'old days of GN'?
Go to CHAT and find the Christmas Party thread.

I've just reread it and it reminded me of so many of the original names. I'm sure you'll recognise lots of them!

Absolute nonsense but no sniping or serious arguments! Enjoy!

bikergran Tue 28-Apr-15 20:59:04

nannieroz111 Tue 28-Apr-15 20:52:33

nannieroz111 Tue 28-Apr-15 20:46:11

Yeah you're right loopylou...... biker is wicked. I nearly fell off my perch laughing at the vision of knees combusting (is that a word?)

loopylou Tue 28-Apr-15 20:41:47

bikergran I've just choked and spluttered over my glass of wine!
Hope the stains come out of the armchair ....... grin

You are wicked!!

loopylou Tue 28-Apr-15 20:39:39

You need some Wolfhounds, Falcons and rats me thinks.....

bikergran Tue 28-Apr-15 20:39:06

Oh and ! can someone bring matches this time...I'm not rubbing my knees together again to make a spark, nearly set myself on fire last time shock

bikergran Tue 28-Apr-15 20:37:54

glass no not me this time, Galen is the ringleader for a change grin

nannieroz I may be in the wrong era, I seem to have seen Lurcher dogs hanging round the tables, but I never did attend my History classes lol. My parcel did arrive biker and WOW! its nearly as big as me!!!! Have given myself several pats on the back today. I'm afraid you'll have to explain why we need the lurcher/whippet/greyhound. (I've led a very sheltered life) lol.

bikergran Tue 28-Apr-15 20:06:38
